Guyatone LG350T Sharp5 1966

I could not resist...
This white one with the orange colored pickguard was always my dream Guyatone.
I once had a 1971 blue one Guyatone LG350T DX with three pickups and golden hardware... I never really liked it... the neck was horrible,the overall playing feel was bad...
Ahhh!!! I just checked the my old guitar and a guy in Italy is selling it. So those are my pics he uses in his Reverb account. I made them.

So I can not recommend the blue Guyatone in this Reverb add at all!

I hoped that this white Guyatone is better. ....aaaaand: It is luckily!

The neck is really good, not to compare to the blue one.
A japanese friend told me that Guyatone was going bankrupt in 1969 and the Guyatone guitars after are pretty bad! ( Now I know it)

My new one is pretty good, sounds great!!!

Fantastic! I have one too, supposedly a '65 pre-production model, much the same as yours but in sunburst and with an abbreviated Mosrite-ish pickguard made from the same material as yours. I love it. Legend is that different generations of these guitars were contracted out to different manufacturers, the early ones having some Yamaha involvement. The truss rod adjuster hiding inside the neck joint makes me think it could be true.

Oh, wow! Sounds good! Do you have pics of yours?
What trem arm do you use, please? Do you have an original one? Do you know the measures maybe? With a thread or just stuck in like Jags trem arms? ...oh...5 questions...

I am still not sure about the trem arm.. There could be a thread inside, but it also could be a jacket for a Jaguar style arm..

Sorry for the slow reply- here is a link to sleepkid's thread on the guitar which later became mine, and which includes a link to my NGD thread. It came to me with no arm, and I haven't yet sorted a proper one, just a threaded arm with some teflon tape wrapped around it pushed into the collet, less than ideal. The collet on mine is not threaded, so may take a Jag/Jm arm maybe? Sending a PM to sleepkid might be a plan, he's knowledgeable on these guitars.

I´ve read your thread also.
What are your experiences with string gauges meanwhile please?
I love on Jags or Jazzmaster 12-52 flats, on old Mustangs 11-50 flats.
I am experimenting with 12-50 rounds this time... it reminds me to old Mosrites a bit.. The Mosrites also don´t like 11 or 12 sets.. On my Mosrite Combo I play 10-49 flats.
...what makes more tension? Flats or rounds? I thought flats?

Here´s a look under the trem plate.
There´s white paint on the jacket and on the tremlock part.
A guy from japanese told me that japanese craftsmen put some paint onto screws sometimes, so you can see someone touched it or did some changes.
I am still looking for a solution with the trem arm.
I guess I will remove the white paint and will take a look into the inside? I am not sure..
If I remove it I will do it with heat I guess.









The screw for the trem arm. so, what is under the white screw? A thread for a trem arm?
...do you know this thoughts, when you open a vintage guitar? You feel a bit like Indiana Jones.. open something where no one has been before... (ah, this was Star Trek, yes... ). ...Guyatona Jones.

The trem plate looks really similar to the Matsumoku trem plate.

I have not fragmented the trem unit yet...
The LG350T is still waiting to get a perfect setup... but it´s so fun to play, I can not work on it...
I really love the tone out off this guitar, and the playabilty of the neck. Even without amp it´s cool to play and the sound is very resonating.
All is comparable to a good old early-mid 60´s Jaguar. The tone is similar but with an own character, a bit more bite.
Guyatone apparently copied the Fender necks of the early, mid 60´s too.
I love the neck on this Guyatone. I really love it. This Guyatone can be my new main guitar maybe. (I have played mostly my 63 Jag and a 65 Mustang the last two years).

I have got an original Guyatone trem am now.
I have chosen the easiest way: I have simply bought another Guyatone LG350T from 1966. (thread to it soon)
This was the best solution.


Here in the pic below, my first LG350T with the new trem arm. Whooohoooo!!!

I have a nice scuffed white model headed my way but again without the wobblestick....
