Holy crap that's a looker.
I had a massive yen for Gretsches, especially 6120s/Nashvilles/Chets before I got into offsets. I'll always have a soft spot for them and this one's a looker. You don't see quite so many double-cutaway Nashvilles either. Great guitar.
You touched on every guitar owner’s quandary. Nothing is set in stone.

Looking at the serial number alone, it’s actually a 65 by both Gretsch’s sequential system, and the date code they went to just before the Baldwin days. I hate to think it sat in that music store window from (circa) 65 to late 71–when I took possession of it. But it was brand new when I got my hands on it.
The other quandary is... is it a “Chet” or a “Nashville?” My pick guard says only Chet Atkins, so it’s a Chet. I’ve just always called it a Nashville because it instantly spurs a mental image of that faded orange finish.
And a theme I’ve picked up on here in OSG is that we’re merely conservators of these vintage (and future vintage) instruments. This one I can point to and say I gigged with it for over a decade before I couldn’t force myself to carry it into another beer joint. It only has 1 scratch in the finish, less than a half inch, just behind the standby switch, that doesn’t go to the bone.
I kinda wish I’d have known that the old Mosrite was a 66. But, in 1971, 66 was no big deal.
