how do you deal with early poly finishes? I tried to polish lightly my '72 JM with a damp cloth and it turned WHITE for a second no long term damage done, but that finish is really unstable. Been wiping it with dry cloth before putting it in its case ever since.

Some fresh GHS 11's once a year, a bit of dunlop fingerboard cleaner if necessary, or just the lemon oil to keep the whole rosewood dark and healthy
Also, the musicnomad "one" polish/cleaner is also very good at pretty much everything. If you run into some gunk or just small finish rashes, this will take care of it. A little smelly tho, but great results when properly applied
