Help with replacement tuners
Struggling to understand if these will fit straight into a 1965 JM with rather tired double line Klusons. I know the footprint is correct but I seem to recall that annoyingly the bushings don’t fit. I don’t want to take the original bushings out just drop the tuners in for playability.
Will these work with no mods? It’s a dealbreaker if I can’t leave the old bushings in!

I would think those would fit, and I agree, no need to take the original bushings out.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Help with replacement tuners
I agree they should be fine.
Have you considered putting in some new Klusons, e.g. https://www.charlesguitars.co.uk/manuf ... ouble-line
Gotohs are great tuners, but i reckon the current Klusons are just as good, and will let you maintain that extra little bit of aesthetic ‘correctness’.

Re: Help with replacement tuners
I concur with JVG above...why deviate from the tried and tested Klusons? I have put more sets that I can count onto guitars and I still rate them as some of the finest on the market. Direct fit, look correct, well priced...ticks every box.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

+1 for Klusons, I love the 18:1 Kluson supremes if you wanted to "upgrade" from the standard ones (that are totally fine) but keep the same style

I keep meaning to try these but figure, hell, my singing is rarely in tune so why bother with the guitar

Re: Help with replacement tuners
Kluson is weird. What is the difference between the Kluson "Supreme" and the "Revolution"?
Well, it's 18:1 and 19:1, for whatever that is worth.
However, I would be remiss if we didn't discuss the Deluxe series, nor the Prestige, , or maybe you might be torn between the Contemporary or Vintage Diecast lineup.

Looks like the Kluson reissues have moved on a bit since I had some back in the noughties. Then they were made by Ping and didn’t think they were great. I’ll check the new range out.

Re: Help with replacement tuners
I didn't know about the Kluson Supreme tuners. I may well have to get a set for my pink AO Jag, I've upgraded everything else so may as well go top of the line for the tuners too

Don’t ever try and remove original bushes from a 60s Fender neck, it’ll end in tears

They are made in Korea by WD Music now. I think they are fantastic and would happily put them on any guitar, modern or vintage, without a second thought.

That’s great to know and I see there is a plentiful UK supply via eBay vendor Armstrong music.

Re: Help with replacement tuners
Armstrong music is the new name WD Music is trading under. They have a website that is great for all sorts of parts, and they have the best selection of Kluson tuners in the UK.Marc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 12:22 amjohnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 11:30 pmThey are made in Korea by WD Music now. Re: Help with replacement tuners
Weird that they’ve rebranded in the UK but not USA. Well, not that weird.
You can see straight away the focus is off pickguards from the homepage. Looks like they’ll still get them made by WD & shipped foc. Nice.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?
