Any red flags on this '66 Jag F/S near me?

Post by superficial » Sat Jul 01, 2023 6:23 am

I've started idly looking at vintage offsets. I know I don't need one, but I really want one and I'm a bit concerned the prices will make them as unaffordable soon, so maybe now's the time? Anyway, that's not the point of the thread:

This Jag has come up F/S near me. It's a decent price (£3.5k) and looks OK to me. Any red flags? The fretboard looks to have a lot of woodgrain - like Pau Ferro almost - is that OK? It's also apparently had a refret but I can't really see any evidence of that.
Great looking and sounding guitar for sale or trade

Players grade with some changes

Non original case - bird bros flightcase
Recent Refret
Has changed parts bridge and trem _. Original bridge and trem collet supplied but no original arm
One of the pickup covers is not original
Some of the wiring has been changed but all original harness supplied
Has earlier tuners

On further review I'm thinking it's a scam listing. We'll see if the guy can meet up locally, but won't be surprised if he wants me to pay in BTC or something stupid :(

I asked the guy for neck pocket pics and he sent them. I don’t think it’s a scam

Nothing weird here. Seller is upfront about wiring and even tuners. What more do you want? Perfect? I dunno about that, but it’s pretty darn nice and I agree go get it!

I saw that one as well. Looks pretty nice to me! No major red flags here, as far as I'm concerned. That grainier wood seems to be a mid 60s thing, I've seen a few like that.
