It's an interesting thought, isn't it? Coincidently, CBS also owned Columbia, Bob's record company - so in a way, Bob did contribute to CBS buying Fender: in 1965, Dylan was probably their biggest moneyspinner.

I've got a feeling the Jag may have been Al Kooper's guitar, which would make sense in that time-frame: Dylan hired Kooper as a keyboard player, but he was actually a guitarist. I'm fairly sure I've seen pics of Kooper playing a sunburst Jag in the mid 60s. Some Al Kooper trivia: his first success in music was playing guitar on "Short Shorts" by the Royal Teens.

Yeah, Kooper says that he turned up for the Like A Rollin' Stone session with his guitar but didn't think he had a chance when he saw Bloomfield was there, so he hustled his way onto the session by saying he had a great organ part. If he was a Jag player, it'll likely be his.

Thats right, He saw Bloomfield warming up and quickly knew he was outgunned in the guitar department. That's ow the song got it's organ part.
