an unsung offset.....the Bass V.....with no "I"

Post by zhivago » Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:49 am

they are quite rare I guess...I've only ever seen one in a shop in London, but I kinda like the look...quite Mustang-like...and the proof is on the headstock...it has an Offset Contour Body :)

I agree, though I wouldn't mind owning one.

I heard somewhere that it was a high B, but I could be making it up.

I think it looks alrigth, but it doesn't have the elegance of some of the other offsets.

I've heard it was a high C string  :D

WIth all the different guesses, I was intending a humourous post along these lines, but I searched, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Bass_V and other pages appear to back this up.
Apparently you're all wrong  ???

However lately I've started to think about building or modding a five strings bass with an higher string instead of a lower..it's only a tought..but I think it will be cool for alternative stuff..maybe to cover both guitar and bass..or maybe with a dropped fifth string...this more than rare bass is like the  immage of my toughts!!! But the shape of the body it's almost ugly for me :'(

there's one at a local shop I've been tempted to check it out though they don't seem to love people coming in just to rev the engines  :-\

Fender              Bass V            1966                $6500
Rare, rare, rare! Lake Placid Blue! Maple fingerboarded neck without skunk
stripe with black binding, black block inlays, and matching headstock. Some
pretty good dents, finish cracks and scratches. Some resoldering in control
cavity but all components look original. Plays and sounds as it should. Strange
but apparently original Canadian Fender H/C. V.G.-

You may just be joking, but... I believe not too long ago someone (Musikraft?) did a small run of bodies and necks.
