I’m pretty sure all my flying banana’s are 7.25”. There is something weird going on though. The bridge will not create any angle on the strings which, according to my luthier, is actually very good for intonation.
Interesting, are you saying that the bridge doesn’t effect the radius of the strings on your flying bananas? For this guitar you can definitely see and feel that flatter radius of the bridge raising the outer strings higher off the fretboard when you get toward the 12th fret and up.

Or do you mean the bridge will not create any break angle from the bridge to the tailpiece?

Thanks! I actually found that website yesterday and what I did notice is that the original tremolo springs are much taller than the one I on mine. I’m pretty certain this is why my SG3-C needed the neck shimmed and the bridge raised to get the proper break angle over the bridge... and why the bridge pickup is now too low.

Originally, the pickups had foam under them so you could adjust the height - but over time the foam literally turns to dust, making it look like its directly mounted. New foam will allow you to raise the pickup.

Does yours have the original bridge?

Thank you for the foam heads up!

The bridge is definitely original. Heres a comparison of another SG3-C from the internet v.s. mine.

Heads up, the bridge on the yamaha SG3-C is in fact a roller bridge. I guess the saddles just freeze over time. Some of them started to roll after messing with them.

^Its like they put some sort of coating that hardened over time. So they won't turn at all and just break off if you force them...

Here's a '66 SG3 I just finished doing a little work on. It had been stripped, rattle canned black, stripped again, and cleared by previous owners, but surprisingly enough, it was 95% complete, and it pretty good shape. I re-stripped the body, sealed and painted it gloss black to match the original headstock. Re-fretted, and re-assembled it (correctly)

I wasn't sure about not-redoing the neck, but now that its finished, I'm glad I didn't. These sure are cool guitars!

Great work! You work fast!!

I was thinking about bidding on that one too, but I found a flying Samurai at about the same time this one was listed. So nice to see that it's been de-Costello-ed.

Did you buy that red one for about $350? I probably overpaid for this one (I know I did).

a bit over 530, so backwards 350! It seems like these non-weirdo-shaped Yamahas sell for a bit more?

I just looked yours up on ebay - I mixed it up with another SG-2 that was damaged. $530 is a great price I think. Is this your first Samurai?

I've had a Samurai bass for a little while, but this is my first Samurai guitar. The body shape makes for them feeling pretty unique - but the quality is really top-notch!
