If I lived it the UK I would pick up that strat for sure. And for 2k??? A luthier with some good woodworking skills could probably fix it.

Did some digging on this one.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:05 amI'd say that was a refin on the headstock, judging by this sloppy job...UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 6:11 amDoes the headstock look like aged CAR to anyone, or is it a refin? In which case wouldn't that devalue it? Because it looks like a pretty close match for the much newer body on my monitor.
Reminds me of those local ads/eBay listings where they're selling multiple items and list the price of the cheapest item as their headline. 1965 JAGUAR (read description) !!!
Found the original listing for the neck:
https://reverb.com/item/44449152-fender ... t=44449152
It seems like a really nice neck and looks 100% original to me (also silver undercoat can be seen in the ding on the neck which should be right)
It looks like it was listed for about 2k, but one offer was made, so in the end, I think he paid a little over 2k considering shipping and taxes to Germany.
Would be a fair price I think if you are looking to restore your late 60s CAR Jaguar, but not really if you are going to flip it with a partscaster.
Asked the current seller about the neck and he said it is 100% aswell, and also reminded me "Bear in mind if it had the original body it would be a 10 grand guitar". This is just not true, bc he forgot the original hardware, electronics, and pickups. And even then it would be a lot.
For example, this one: https://reverb.com/item/57627136-fender ... -apple-red is in even better shape (compared to the neck on the parts jag listing) and this one is LISTED at 10k, and didn't sell yet.
So let's say the neck is worth 2k in this shape, that would mean the 2012 body plus some modern fender USA parts and a pair of Seymour Duncans would make up for the total 5k? I don't see why.

He's pretty far off the mark there. I sold an actually all-original CBS CAR Jag (67) just last year for £4000 and had to drop it from £4500 before I got a bite. 1965 is still CBS era so he's DREAMIN'.
If it was a fancier colour, sure. But not CAR
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Something especially repulsive about this kind of shaping.

This 59 Jazzmaster with the botched refin is up agaain. Whoever did the refin covered up the neck pocket date and erased the heel date as well. It was originally listed for $14k about 4 months ago and was marked down to $3k before someone snagged it. Turns out the buyer is a flipper and is now listing it at $10k lol

This guitar should be red, it would match the amount of red flags it has.marginwalker wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 10:23 amhttps://reverb.com/item/58640474-1959-f ... t=58640474

"Mostly original parts... except for the poor finish. And the pickups. And the pickguard, the frets, the headstock overspray, at least one of the pots, and some of the wiring. Oh, and someone routed out a new body cavity. And no, you can't have the polish cloth, hang tag, or vintage case. That'll be TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, PLEASE."marginwalker wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 10:23 amhttps://reverb.com/item/58640474-1959-f ... t=58640474
