I kinda even like the kinda Burns Flyte Mustang above!
But THIS ONE makes me REALLY sad, as it started off as a wonderful Competition Mustang in 1969

To be completely fair though, this guy saw both the Shortboard Mustang and the American Special Mustang coming.

Sometimes, a Van Halen paint job just fits.
This is an excellent rectangle

That Van Halen'ed one isn't really my sort of thing, but it looks cool, and the pickups and hardware still complement the body shape.
The 2 humbuckers and a stoptail on the red one make the body shape look inelegant and lumpy somehow. Same with the Fender version. It drives me crazy that people's idea of getting creative with a modification is slapping the hardware and electrics from one guitar onto another. There's a whole world of possibilities out there and dudes are like 'duh huh, what if... a mustang, but les pauled'

If I were to create a religion, this would be a reason for eternal damnation. Along with slightly tweaking a current design and calling it "your own"..mgeek wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 3:57 am

Half (or more) of the mod threads on this forum involve EXACTLY this process....mgeek wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 3:57 amIt drives me crazy that people's idea of getting creative with a modification is slapping the hardware and electrics from one guitar onto another. (But of course more tastefully done )

Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
I guess I'm a bit confused - are there folks out there that love tune-o-matics and a stop bar tailpiece but hate Gibsons? ...or are they just easy to install? It seems like a weird thing to do when a Fender hardtail is kinda classy.
I guess to me it is more off-putting when Fender does it, than when it is done by an owner who wants to customize a guitar to their personal tastes.
