Lift up the shield for the bridge pickup... there may be a penciled date. if nothing is there, try the neck pickup area. Also, if the shields look like they haven't been removed, the original finish may be under there. Just be careful not to break the solder joints/connections between the shield pieces.TweedBassman wrote:

i should have investigated further... but the brass plates were intact and i didn't want to mess with them. on the off chance that i do need to 'go back in,' are there any clues under the brass shielding?
