Until that bargain-priced neckplate comes along, Ron is the guy for you. . .

There's also a seller on there called michael_atw, who has about five '64 plates listed, so he might be worth contacting regarding a part-ex ;)

That is so damn cool. I'd be tempted to just throw new strings (and nut) on it and see how it goes as previously mentioned, grunge, muck and all.

I generally fall into the "rock as is" camp, but it looks like you'd have to at least clean it a little bit, or wear coveralls when you play it. Which is the ultimate in garage-rock wear, of course.

Amen to that! This thing is badass. String it, play it, and love it as is. I would get lost for hours admiring it if it were mine.

Right, I've tried being patient, but frankly it's time for an update.

it earned those scars, and from the looks of it, the hard way. it would almost be a shame to cover that up and make it perfect again... then again, a fresh 64 is a pretty awesome machine as well. either way, its awesome that it got saved. most demolition crews would have just tossed that thing in the dumpster and went about their day. pretty incredible story though...

COOLEST jazzmaster (and story) EVER!
I am going to agree with Crackwhore up here. I gotta tell you, I have been losing sleep over how lucky you are, OP. I had a dream recently that it was me who found this gem. Lucky, Lucky man.

Nope, no restoring going on here guys, I've been too busy with regular life to even get started on it. I have however been acquiring a few new tools and such to be prepared for when I do get to it. I haven't forgotten about this place and your advice has been very helpful, I'll update again when I get started on it. Have a Great Holiday Season!
