Yamaha SG-3 needs some TLC

I got a sunburst Yamaha SG-3 that's in need of some love. The original volume and tone knobs are replaced with some Jaguar (?) style knobs, the string guide/nut seems to have been replaced, the frets are worn, rusty hardware etc etc. Phew...

I'm not looking to get it 100% autentic with original or repro parts. Just want it to get in working order.

The metal string guide nut has been replaced with a plastic one and that is something I really would like to fix.
Does anyone know what kind of screws to get to replace the ones at the bridge saddles?
Any tips and leads for replacing bad parts are very much welcome!

My only word of advice, is to be really careful if you try to clean up the metal parts. The chrome plating is extremely fragile, and prone to pitting, and tends to flake off when cleaned. This is mostly true for tuners, vibrato, and bridge.

Yes, this I am worried about. I have not yet tried to clean the bridge because of flaking. Is there anything you can do to prevent it from flaking more?

One thing I ran into with my old Yamahas is that the screw sizes use the old/obsolete JIS standard (instead of SAE or some other standard.) I couldn't find any, so I tapped the saddles to use a more common size. You might have luck posting in the wanted section - someone might have some in a parts bin!
