Well, to tell the truth.... I would rather have a body with the ground to the tail. But this one is so nice and the price was great, it was hard to pass up!  If I find a more suitable body in the meantime I may not use this one. There's plenty of time as I wait for funds for the neck and other parts to arrive.

Yeah, I know... big deal. But the tail/arm arrived today and I couldn't resist laying out all the parts!

I am excited to watch this one come together. What colors are you throwing around at the moment? I don't know what I would do if it were me... maybe sonic blue  :?  Picking a color is the absolute hardest part of piecing one together.

Hehe. I think I shortened the scale up a little too much....    ;D

It's a dilemma. When I first got into these, everyone was really into FR and LPB. Then it seemed like they got so common that they got played out, and you don't see them as much. Now it seems everyone is going for Surf, Seafoam, Sonic or Daphne.

I was goofing around in the dressing room and keep coming back to Fiesta or LPB. It's almost as if they became so common that they died and are now RARE! again...

I know what you mean. I slightly faded fiesta red would look really good. It is neat because normally everyone does these custom color refins with tortoise guards, but this one will have the real deal.  :?

I would say reranch's fiesta red is just a tad bit lighter than the fiesta red in the dressing room but the difference may just be between monitors...  I had a 65 Jaguar (dots & binding) I finished in reranch fiesta red(rather poorly actually).  I loved the look of that color.  It didn't have a green guard on it though - more like a gnarly white that was almost yellow from years of smoke.  I missed that thing and wish I had a chance to go back and put the finish on it right and cut a proper nut.  It was my first nut, refin, set up, etc.  It played okay, but I could do a MUCH better job if I had another crack at it.  I ended up putting it on the bay and about a year later it popped up over here:

...I can't remember who it was, but a friend of someone from the FDP ended up buying it.

Sorry to hear that...it's amazing how many times that thing has changed hands in the last three or four years.  It's a great sounding guitar...musicians just can't always afford such luxuries as vintage guitars I guess.  When I win the lottery, I'm going looking for that Jag and my 61 JM that is now owned by some wealthy dot com millionaire here in town.  Damn I miss those guitars.

Wasn't that the jag that came in a box with some oily rags and junk?
