P64 JAG..FINALE!

Post by fullerplast » Sun Sep 23, 2007 10:12 am

Quite pitiful, I know. But it appears to have all correct parts and I have a bridge and knobs on hand. If I can score a neck for a decent price, I'm in business. I have plenty of time to look while I refinish the body...

I can't believe it still has the mute, spring and slug with it! Well, I'm making an assumption. At least the spring and plate are there... I can't see a slug.

Edit:

It kind of looks like the high e tuner is actually an inside tuner and not an end one. So I'll have to start searching for one of those. Being the most frequently bent, it's the most expensive one to replace...

It's odd to say this, (since I paid a little less than that for a dead mint '63 Jaguar about 15 years ago), but that's a great price, and you have most of the hard to find stuff.  Cool project.

Yeah, the necks haven't skyrocketed yet, so I can probably complete this (even with a case) for the going rate of a pro refin with correct parts.

I paid about $100 more than I wanted to, but still feel OK about it.

With that nice tort guard, I'm going either Oly or Black with it....

They look like amp knobs, huh? He says in the description that the knobs are missing.

I have some vintage Jag knobs in my stash though...

you know, you could always rebuild the headstock and do a matching paint job...  I mean, if the neck plays nice as it is.  That's what I would do.

Yeah, but the seam would show on the back. I'm going for a proper restoration more so than a player and I couldn't live with a seam back there. I'll keep an eye out for a nice late '63 through early '65 neck (preferably a '64). There's an early '65 on the bay right now, but it's unreasonable IMO for $995 or something...
Nice buy, Doug!  Cool

Thanks.... and the vacation was great!
