Re: P64 JAG.. White Pt II
haha... believe it or not, that was the original bias-ply Uniroyal Tiger Paw spare in the trunk of my Firebird when I bought it! It looks like it was never on the road. I replaced it with a 5th rally wheel and a new BFG T/A.
I might try to see what that redline will bring on the bay...
L@@K! ORIGIONAL READLINE SPAIR! DONT MISS OUT
Edit: Oh yeah... the Jag is Shell Pink again as of this morning...

That thing looks brand new! I would have never guessed.... You're definitely better off with the T/A Radial. No flat spots in the morning(Not that you'd leave the spare on for that long)...Thump Thump thump. Bias ply tires are a pain...Plus, BFG's are great. Honestly, they're the only tires I buy for my Jeep..(All Terrain T/A)
Looks lovely, Doug!Edit: Oh yeah... the Jag is Shell Pink again as of this morning...
I'm still GASing for Shell Pink, and this doesn't help.

I've said it before, but you never fail to impress me.
If you ever decide to sell this beauty once it's complete, let me know first! :-*

Re: P64 JAG.. UPDATE
Thanks Nolan.
I used the pics in the Library for reference.
Prior to clearcoating, I decided to drill out the thimble and mute holes, which I should have done before the pink. Of course, the bit chipped some pink off and I had to fill and touch up the area.
Having a brain storm (or at least a drizzle)... I started the thimbles while the pink was still wet. Once dry, I'll heat them up and drive them the rest of the way in. I plan to tape them for the clearcoat. I know from experience that the clear is very fragile and will crack/chip for sure if I tried to drive them in after letting the clear harden. I suppose I could have waited and used this method with the clear... but based on my luck so far in this project I don't want to chance it!
Looks like I wont be able to shoot the clear until tomorrow now. I'll be using the nail method for the clear...

Re: P64 JAG..UPDATE!
i never could find a logical explanation for why the thimbles are easier to move when heated... i mean, the material does expand with rising temperature, still it works better. magic? meta-magic?

Re: P64 JAG..UPDATE!
My guess is that the wood expands faster and easier than the thimbles and they become loose in the hole.
I'm going to start installing the tuner ferrules right now. Here's another chance to chip the pink...
