Thank you! It still gets played often. It’s a super fun VI with a neck that is rather slim but still easy to play. The 62 pickups are unique, a bit more throaty and warm than Jag style. I had a 63 before this and was never quite happy with those pickups.

That combo indeed is. Also enjoy the VI through a 70s SVT.

So cool to see this VI again and even better to see that you still have it.

Question for you. Do you know how deep the pickup routs are? I have a project guitar that will use two Novak 62 VI pickups. Thanks!

Thanks. No plans to part with this one.

If I recall, the routes were not as deep as the jag style ones. I could measure but it might be a few weeks.

No worries, maybe someone else will know. I was just hoping you took note during the restoration. No need to take it apart. :)

This photo is absolute vintage gear goals. My word, just a stunning kit right here. Outstanding taste and a brilliant combo.

Somehow I missed this entire thread until today (and thanks for updating it last year with the new link for photos, Photobucket really messed up the internet years ago).

What a spectacular restoration, kudos on this!

Reading along, it was a joy to realize the neck was original to the guitar and the approach Mike Forrester took in repairing the headstock was incredible. Especially the faux grain effect, what an artist.

I'd have done the same exact thing in terms of salvaging the original neck, that's what makes something like this a true restoration, versus a rebuild with a modern neck etc.

Anyway, round of applause! It turned out great, and what a nice color option too.

Thank you. As you know when you go through the effort to restore a vintage instrument, it takes on a different place in the collection. The excitement of playing it but also the knowledge of how it’s been put right.
Love seeing your restoration as well!

Love this!
The Mk1 Fender VI aesthetic really appeals to me, and they are such fun guitars/basses to play around with.

To give credit where it is due, this thread was the inspiration for my lefty Inca Silver build a few years ago. My build is documented (albeit briefly) at viewtopic.php?f=8&t=109379

I was cruising through this thread in awe thinking.... "How I wish i could own a lefty one of these" and lo and behold. Maybe one day.
