What happened to the recent 1962 Jaguar post?
I was checking back to read the post where a member was describing a recent find of an original mint 1962 Jaguar with hang tags and case candy only to find it had mysteriously evaporated. Any reason I wonder?

But why delete the entire thread?

Maybe the op didn't want to be called on the absolutely ridiculous price of 8500 dolars? Also he had mentioned the neck pup was dead...

Re: What happened to the recent 1962 Jaguar post?
Jeez. It might have been a nice sunburst but had issues it seems and that sort of price can only be commanded by a nice custom colour.
The fact that he deleted the thread is sort of suspicious. Why do that unless you don't want something seen?
The other time I saw this sort of thing was on Fretboard UK where a seller was advertising a '62 sonic blue Jaguar as original. Quite a rare beast indeed.
It subsequently turned up at ATB guitars, who then had to admit that it was a clever and well done refinish - designed basically to deceive, so skilfully aged as it was.
I recognised the guitar because it had a postcode peeking through the rear finish and went back to the Fretboard forum whereupon I discovered that the seller (who presumably sold it to ATB) had deleted all of the content!!!
he couldn't delete it all because he was advertising it in other people's threads but had deleted all the photographs.
Sort of an indictment of duplicitous intent I do think.

I think his user name was: J mascis? correct?
I do recall seen a last message from him asking to take down the thread because the conversation had changed into something else. Didn't really understand what or why. You might be able to find him and ask him?

I believe so, yes. I'm just intrigued as to why it vanished. He asked for advice on how much it might be worth and how to sell it and we were all willing to help and then suddenly POOF!señormisterioso wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 1:16 pmI think his user name was: J mascis? correct?

I'm not intrigued enough to track him down and grill him as to his motives. He's got a Reverb listing and an ambitious price. Good luck. A bit rude I thought though.

Re: What happened to the recent 1962 Jaguar post?
He asked a mod to delete the thread because he thought discussing price was getting seedy. He wasn't trying to sell it here. His call.
The guitar is a pretty nice specimen. The newer pics show the guitar as a whole is not collector grade, and he took our advice to modify the description accordingly. At least it will get played rather than being a museum piece.
But IMHO it still needs much better neck wear pics plus internal pics to confirm the vintage to get high end money.

Re: What happened to the recent 1962 Jaguar post?
He was asking advice about where to sell it and for how much. I suggested a few options he might have been interested in like Gary's guitars in Ohio. He lives not that far away.
Seedy?
I hope not.

I remember that blue jag. However, there’s a rule over on that site that forbids deletion of info from FS threads and the mods normally put back anything that does get deleted.gringopig wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 9:00 amJeez. Re: What happened to the recent 1962 Jaguar post?
Indeed, the OP asked us to delete the thread so it wouldn't look like he was promoting the sale of the guitar.
As far as site forum rules went it was actually a good move on his part, since as we all know, selling is only allowed in the For Sale section
Thanks for asking

Thread turning seedy and not wanting to look like selling outside 'for sale' thread are 2 different things though yes.
Oh well. Enquiry thoroughly answered!
