OSG site slow to respond?

Post by GilmourD » Tue Jul 25, 2023 8:00 am

Anybody else seeing any issues with slow response from the site? I was initially worried that it was something funky with my work Internet connection due to some construction in the building that feeds the fiber over to where my office is but I'm having the same issue via mobile data.

DNS issues? Drive performance issues? Server needs to be rebooted? Hamster needs to be fed?

It was slow for me but then seemed to right itself. Is anyone experiencing slow refresh times now?
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Interestingly it seems intermittent.

I haven't gotten a chance to sit at my desk and see if it may be a DNS or routing issue for the server farm the forum operates from, but I will once I can.

I've let luau know and he'll look into it when he's got a moment.

It's definitely intermittent. I'm going to restart apache at 3:00 EDT, so we'll down for a few minutes.

edit: I didn't see anything obviously wrong so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks, Tom! It seems better now, hopefully the restart fixed whatever was going on.

From one IT guy named Tom to another, thanks!

Software going weird after running for a while is one of the great mysteries of all time. Memory leaks, single bit errors, an interstellar particle from a quasar getting through our atmosphere and flipping a single bit (I'm not even kidding), etc., who knows?

Is there a way we can contribute to help pay for running the site?

Sure thing, and any time. Not being able to identify a problem is annoying but that's just how it goes now and then.
