Board issues...

Post by Jay » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:58 pm

Sorry for all the issues today.  The hosting provider was having problems with the database software on our server and it was taking the site down as well as corrupting the database.  Hopefully we've made it through and from here on things will be smooth.

I'm glad it wasn't the forums software...  fixing problems related to the forum can be a real nightmare.  :wtf:

Phew - I was freaking out for a minute.  I actually went to the fenderforum to see if someone had posted over there with similar problems or if it was just me.

I was lurking from my phone at work, and I couldn't get the site to work.  I thought it was my service...

I've been here over 18 months, and this is the first time I recall any site problems.  Keep up the great work, fellas  (and whoever the hosts the site).  8)

I tried the search function several times and kept getting this message:

Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.

Fixed the search error and checked the rest of the database.  I don't see any other crashed tables so that should about do it.

Was anything like this happening again today, or was there a completely separate reason for the site being replaced by a domain squatter page?

Our fucking doooooshbag host didn't re-propagate the domain (regardless of the fact that I auto-registered it a month ago) and so they let the record expire and the squatter page showed up.  I'm ROYALLY PISSED OFF about this.  I may look for a new host/registrar in which case there would be a bit more down time.
