I think it can happen if you use the browsers back button and get yourself lost. I think I did it once

Re: Inserting an Image
Has my narcissism reached new levels, or IS this in fact a reply to my post about the unread posts thing in another thread?

No, it's about the lenghty post from "the rollerdoor" about linseed oil and such, and why the heck it's here in the post about images. But I did SEE your post about unread posts -- does that count?Orang Goreng wrote: Has my narcissism reached new levels, or IS this in fact a reply to my post about the unread posts thing in another thread? :D

Re: Inserting an Image
So, after setting up an ImageShack account, I was able to post a thumbnail-style link to a full-sized photo in one of my threads...
Is this normal?
How do I get the full sized image to appear on the forum. I'm at a loss.
Thanks!

Re: Inserting an Image
I'm guessing this is an ImageShack thing .. did they provide you with a link to post? What is actually in your post reads like this:
so that you have the thumbnail image (re501frontpk5.th.jpg) with a link to the large image (re501frontpk5.jpg). If you just want to display an image then all you need is the link for the image between a couple of image tags like this:
which gives you an image so huge that perhaps their way of linking through a thumbnail is better in this case .. a thread with five or six images that size is going to take a while to load on a slow connection.
Code: Select all
[URL=http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=re501frontpk5.jpg][img]http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6489/re501frontpk5.th.jpg[/img][/URL]

Re: Inserting an Image
Thanks mezcalhead. I believe I understand the difference between what is in my post and what you have done!
For now, I think the thumbnail links will work just fine... The full sized image is pretty big and the thumbnails serve their purpose.
Thanks for the support and advice!

Re: Inserting an Image
Image shack lets you resize them to 480 x 640 for forums as you load them. Choose that option and check the resize box. Then use the last link at the bottom once it loads (direct link to image).
That is, unless you want to link to a hi-res shot. In that case, the thumbnail option is obviously best.

Re: Inserting an Image
I can get a picture posted but it's really small. Not as big as I would like it to appear here in the forum.
What am I doing wrong?
There's like a really small picture that comes up. There's a rectagular black box underneath it with some sort of sizes.
Feel like a dope asking about this.
I wish I could just hit a browse button and it would appear there.
I did sign up with the image web site somebody mentioned for posting pictures. That seemed to go OK. But it's posting pictures here that seems really difficult.

I tried posting images but I must have done it incorrectly.
Here goes another try:
