The more I think about it, the more surprised I am that you haven't done it already!!

Maybe just 100% originals to begin with. No refins or mods. Encourage people to take loads of hi-res pictures (hell, I'll post a thread on taking clear, hi-res images if need be!!)

Not only will it look fucking great but it'll also help loads when it comes to identifying vintage over refinned guitars. eBay is full of conmen selling guitars that're simply not what they say they are.

If you've got a library, the galleries surely the next step! 

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. I'm glad somebody decided to post a topic about this.

It sounds like a cool idea to me. The only trouble would be all the bandwidth it would take to host all the photos on site. Offsite linking would be a nice solution except for changes down the road. Like if someone deletes their gallery, links become outdated, etc.

True. Maybe you could list rules/criteria as to the size of images. I always half the image-size of my digital camera photos as they end up HUGE!!! Even then they're pretty big.

Or...the Moderator in charge could re-size them. I'm suggesting more work here for you guys (who're doing a top-notch job already!!). Just throwing ideas into the pot. I'd be more than happy to help!!

I hadn't thought about bandwidth! (its still a bit Martian to me). Maybe grab pictures already on-site, stick them in the gallery & then delete the original picture, leaving a message - e.g...see gallery picture number 2.

I suppose this might encourage people to chuck loads of pics in the hope that there's get picked, which would be bad (like a local beauty pageant!!  )

Although, on the subject matter I think Justin has the best idea

We could open up a few photobucket accounts for pic hosting,when some one becomes a member they get the password (which we all have) for the accounts.

Or we could just create sub albums in our already existing accounts and make them public,then post links and a brief description of whats in each,this seems easiest since the above would involve transferring a shitload of pics from everyone!
