Avatars

Post by cronosftm » Thu Feb 07, 2013 5:03 pm

How do you guys manage to get your avatars to meet the required specs? I've shrunk some of the jpeg images on my computer to almost microscopic proportions and either can't get them below 16kb or end up with a pic that looks like something seen through Mr Magoo's eyes. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Resize the pic to the max allowed height wich is 80 pixels. Try re-saving the pic in .jpe or .jpg, i think they're the ones that give you a smaller size file. It might even automatically go to the right size too. Can't remember for sure...

Welcome.

the other rthing to remember is not to shrink a 3000 x 3000 directly to 80x80 ... it'll turn out crappy
do it in two stages 3000x3000 -> say 1000x1000 -> 80x80
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...
