Bilt Basses - even a Bass VI
https://biltguitars.com/product/relevator-bass/
Expensive but you could have a custom Bass VI for $1500 less than a Fender CS. My only complaint there is that they use a Mastery bridge which doesn't intonate well with VIs AFAIK so you'd still need to get a Staytrem VI bridge (which I happen to have in a drawer already...).
Or a 30" offset body with a Lollar Rick horseshoe pickup (though that adds $400)...

Ah, rats! They beat me to it.
I was planning a Marauder bass build. I love Bilt though. These look cool!

Boy, that is pretty ugly, but I’m not a BilT fan in general

I'm the same...all their guitars looks a little 'off'. Like someone copying a Fender while borrowing someone else's glasses
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

I think it’s the cruise liner sized headstock. Makes everything seem a bit extra. I like the outrageousness of it, but not for me.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sun Jun 26, 2022 4:28 amI'm the same...all their guitars looks a little 'off'. I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Nah, it's the bodies for me...they look kinda 'fat'. Like they're overweight in the wrong places. I know plenty of people dig them, I just think they look clumsy. I like it as a 6 string and can’t stand it as a 4.

Bilt makes seriously ugly guitars, but I think this one is actually ok, perhaps because of my ultra-low expectations going in.

Wasn’t aware how polarizing bilt was. I’ve always been impressed.
