A Mosrite Wannabee...
A Mosrite Wannabee... Even available in LH !
https://www.thomann.de/fr/harley_benton ... _lh_sb.htm
At that price tag, I couldn't resist too long to buy one :
Perfect candidate for a Super Tremola addition, with a roller bridge instead of the wraparound :
Wait and See !

Re: A Mosrite Wannabee...
I've been looking at these and thinking that they look cool, especially for the price.
I'm not sure if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, but are the horns wider apart than on original Mosrites?
Regardless, it looks a great guitar for the money. Harley Benton are dangerously tempting like that!

It's a wannabee : the shape is not exactly the same.
Below the custom-made Mosrite luthier copy that I had for a time :
I think that the Harley-Benton it is closer to a UNIVOX Hi-Flyer like below :
And here's the HB :

Hey there lhwarp
May I ask how things did work out for you and your HarleyBenton-Mosrite-mod? I was curious about your idea of having the wraparound bridge work as a usual bridge when it comes to the Duesenberg bisgby like vibrato installation. Wouldn't the wraparound bridge just fall off since there's no tension coming from the headstock / tuners?
cheers

Another point that came to my mind:
Wouldn't you need to connect the vibrato to the grounding wire / output jack wire? I remember that Lee Ranaldo of SY once added a vibrato system to a hardtail solidbody guitar and he wired the vibrato with the rest of the pickup wiring and did just cover the unisolated wire between pickguard and vibrato with gaffer tape

The strings are electrically continous between the vibrato and bridge, so you only need to ground one or the other (as long as the saddle material isn't an electrical insulator like Tusq, in which case you should do it at the vibrato).FinallyBlossom wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 3:20 pmAnother point that came to my mind:

Nice one! I have a sneaking suspicion that these are built by the same people who make some of Eastwoods models. HB and Eastwood has made some strangely similar instruments before.

OP said they will be using a roller bridge, so no problems here.FinallyBlossom wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 4:25 pmAny progress here? Would love to know how you managed the wraparound replacement bridge problem.
Cheers

Also, Gibson has been doing wraptails with their vibrola’s for ages. String pressure keeps them in place.

Interesting. I've been thinking of doing the same mod with my Harley Benton MR and couldn't find an appropriate bridge that replaces the standard wraparound bridge anywhere.

Would you mind linking the bridge that's supposed to do the job?

Re: A Mosrite Wannabee...
Oh no it probably won’t be a straight swap but a plug and drill kind of ordeal. I bet you could swap some cheap rollerbridge saddles into a badass type bridge though, same TOM architecture.FinallyBlossom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 7:05 pmInteresting. I'm still looking for a straight "swap in" solution Before I'd drill the guitars body for new mounting holes for a TOM bridge, I'd rather go for a Halon offset bridge (in additin to a JM style floating tremolo / vibrato).

Sorry Guys to be so late to answer... My apologies ! Those pictures below will tell you all :
Only one point has to be done : the change of the sticky nut for a TUSQ-XL, for a flawless tuning stability... Other than that, it's a fine playing and sounding guitar.
