This is the same reason I want a Tokai HARD PUNCHER
God, I love the stuff that makes it onto on some of these Japanese guitars. Tokai are the all-time champs, but not the only ones to put fun names on there.

I love BILTS.
I always wanted a Volare with the proper hardtail string through bridge that Fender SHOULD have put on their Starcaster reissues in the first place
However.
New prices are insane, I would sit and wait for a used one with similar specs to come up for sale. You usually get quite a severe discount and don't have to worry as much about resale value.
There was a beautiful Volare in Shoreline gold on Reverb for a year that I should've grabbed so there are deals still out there.

There is also a Greco Silver Star - which I personally found funny because a friend of a former bandmate is called Silvester and he used to call hin Silver Star instead. Only learned about the guitar two years or so ago.

When Coda first brought BilT into the UK a Relevator LS with a Mastery trem was £2199. Hate to think what that would cost now - probably pushing nearly £3k minimum, maybe more. There is an argument though they were underpriced before, although with the price increases have come (what some would argue to be) improved specs such as nitro finishes, roasted body & neck/figured maple options on the neck and a wider range of options in general.X-Ray Spex wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 3:45 amI love BILTS.

I guess they didn't sell well enough for Coda to want to hang onto them though - they've got one Merc left on clearance with £500 off the original price and it's been there a long time.
Coda are the offset bosses in the UK so will be interesting to see how Guitarguitar does with them considering Coda appears to have had trouble making any decent money on them.

A couple Relevators have been put on reverb recently that were bought between like 2012-2018 and dudes are standing hard at $4,000 for them which is pretty annoying considering they got them for less than $2,500 brand new 7 years ago.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I bought my relevator for a really great price about 6-8 months ago. It's ridiculous people are trying to charge so much for something that didn't even cost as much new!Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 1:38 pmA couple Relevators have been put on reverb recently that were bought between like 2012-2018 and dudes are standing hard at $4,000 for them which is pretty annoying considering they got them for less than $2,500 brand new 7 years ago.

Not defending it, but it's probably helpful to remember that $2500 in 2012 is equivalent to about $3300 today.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 1:38 pmA couple Relevators have been put on reverb recently that were bought between like 2012-2018 and dudes are standing hard at $4,000 for them which is pretty annoying considering they got them for less than $2,500 brand new 7 years ago.
Depressing but true. Makes the difference between 60% appreciation and 21%.
The other thing I always try to remember is that it doesn't matter what somebody paid in the past. It only matters what people are willing to pay today. I have no idea if those guitars are selling at $4k or not, but if they are, then that's the market value.

Judging by the fact that they’ve done nothing but a whole lot of sitting for months, and the only offers either have had were ones I submitted, it looks like they’re way overvaluing their guitars lol. Also, they’re used guitars, something that doesn’t typically increase in value after it’s sold, at least until a decade or two have passed typically

Like used Bilts are typically a tough sell because they’re usually so individualized. I’ve let a few slip thru my fingers that I hate myself over, but even those weren’t my ideal situation. I just want to try one of the Relevators with effects really bad.
