I've never understood the whole donate/sell/loan a perfectly good guitar to HR Cafe so they can hang it upon their wall never to be played again. If I were famous, I'd tell them to shove it. It's my guitar. ;D

i think he's going back to his fiesta red now that he is no longer with rhcp. his recent output with Omar rodriguez indicates he is using a jag...

has anyone rescued this poor guitar already ?

Time for a minor update: Javier Ferero (the one who took the pic which can be found on flickr) kindly send me his further pics and allowed me to post them here. Thanks a lot Javier !

I wish I had the money to visit Caracasthis guitar was for sale and . Still makes me sad to see this beauty mounted on a wall unplayed :fp: .

Also I found some quotes from the man himself from 1991s guitar world magazine:
"Here's my favourtie guitar [a dust-encrusted Fender Jaguar]-it's screwed up, and that's the way I like it!"
[...]
GW:If you used Strats for the basics, where did your Jag come in?
Frusciante: Overdubs, Solos, and overdubs.

GW: This instrument is in an interesting condition. There's some sort of crud caked in the area between the pickups. What were you saying earlier about this neck?
Frusciante: You know, it's just screwed up.[He picks up the guitar and starts playing bluesy riffs.] Actually it's pretty good today. But ... there ... see what I mean?

GW: Dead spots.
Frusciante: But it has so much character. [Plays an r&b riff on the low strings.] Hear the way the body resonates? Incredible.
Here is the Jag in action while recording the track "They're red hot". Unfortunatly it's hardly visible.
Here's the track as audio only. Just guitar, no vocals, drums and bass

Btw: Would you store a vintage Jag like this nowadays ;) :

That last shot is great. I take it it's a Funky Monks still?

I usually HATE matching headstocks, but Frusciante makes them look so badass. He looks great with Jags, and I'm not just saying that because I prefer them over Strats.

You can see jag for a second of Suck my kiss solo... i hate how they always hide jags, probably because they weren't so popular back then...

Hi all.

I'm doing research for my own Sherwood Green project, so I thought I'd resurrect this old thread and get some info.

I am putting together a Jaguar as a tribute to the guitar I saw in the RHCP video when I was a kid, and want it to be as correct as possible.
I'm not doing an exact replica with the same scratches and so on, but something similar regarding wear and tear.

One thing I'm trying to find out is what tuners the Frusciante guitar has? In the low resolutions pics it looks like maybe it has Kluson double line tuners, but normally from fall 1965 it should be F-stamped tuners with more square heads? What's the general consensus on this?

If you know of any other good threads regarding this guitar, please share. :)

Thanks!

Here's a shot from some Hard Rock Cafe catalog which is probably useful.

It's entirely possible for a 1965 dots-and-binding neck to have Kluson tuners, for example, this Jazzmaster neck.

He lost his fiesta red Jag in that fire. Not sure what else was lost.

Anything that’s more convenient than saying he sold it all for drugs. Although, admittedly he’s pretty open about what happened during those few years.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?
