Just realized I only own 2 guitars from that photo now
I still kick myself for not grabbing that maple black block guy :fp:
ME TOO

i think about it a lot...
Me as well, I remember thinking it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

Didn't it come up for sale last year? Who has it now?

Here's mine that I put together around 2009. It's got:

-Warmoth swamp ash body, stained with tea concentrate and finished in Tru-oil
-Warmoth roasted maple neck, stainless frets, 59' round back contour
-Cavalier Fat Lion bridge, Roadhouse Pickups (r.i.p.) "Kingston" neck pickup (Supro-style gold foil)
-4-way switching, volume, treble, bass cut knobs

I just thought about this as I’m seeing Idaho in a couple of weeks.

One of Jeff Martin’s custom Carruthers 4 strings is a Telemaster style. You can see Dan Seta playing it here in this live footage from 1996.

Jeff and Idaho co-founder John Berry were on 4 strings since the very beginning of the band, so it’s possible this instrument is a few years older than that. They put out their first record in 1993.

This is definitely the first Telemaster shaped object I remember seeing.

If I get a chance to talk to Jeff I’ll ask him about it.

I like the idea of the current IBM Squier Offset, swap a P90 for the JM pickup, add a Mustang bridge and JM tremolo. Then piss off a lot of Tele fans and replace the chrome knobs w/Mustang knobs. :)

Picked up a nice & subtle neck to get my EMG Telemaster project back in progress.

A certain Jsett suggested I go for matching headstock. Got a few days before tuners arrive, so I’ve got time to work out a plan

Very nice jazzcaster!! Like above green is cool also.
My poplar body a little too heavy for my back 3,8-9 kilos, in nitro emerald green, TL roasted neck flat oval 12#.

For some time,I have the idea of doing the same duo as yours...jazzmaster neck. a fiesta red body in poly U with minors defects finishs on the rear, and a jm neck classic player elsewhere at a low price... the temptation is great, ouch ouch ouch don't type . I only have one brand new set of vintage tuners with white buttons...

Not an actual telemaster, but catching up on the thread I saw some folks mentioning they hate how they look. While I was never in the "they're ugly" camp, I never thought the look of the telecaster pickguard and control plate meshed well with the offset look.

And I came across a Reddit post a while ago that really shifted my thoughts on what a Telemaster should look like.

Image
r/Offset on Reddit – Shitty mockup of an offset telecaster with a thinline-inspired pickguard. Any good?

Honestly, I now believe that this entire time that they should have used thinline-style pickguards rather than the traditional telecaster inspired pickguards and control plate.
I saw this post last year and was blown away by how obvious and awesome an idea this is. I had a BloomDoom TM body with standard routing and I asked Patrick Cross to see if he could make something like this. Here's what he's created::

I'm so excited to get to play this. More pics here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=94472&start=1530#p1849342

It lives! I think the neck pocket is too shallow- had a lot of problems getting the Chinese neck to fit close enough & actually be playable. Luckily I had a backup, backup neck in this Squier thingy. I’ve whacked the saddles right up & it’s just about usable.

I waited a long time to try these EMGs… and they’re pretty dull. I think I imagined them to be super high output. They’re not at all. No noise though :D

Saw my first wild Telemaster/Offset Tele today. I’ve never actually seen one in person, and today I saw a Squier one in Oly White. It had the JM neck pickup.
Didn’t get a chance to play it, but I appreciate the design more now, having actually seen one.

It was nice, but I’m not in the market for one right now.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before, but here you go anyway: a Make'n Music / Fender Custom Shop Telemaster ad from April 2010.
