I just bought this Jaguar locally (Dallas) from a man who said he bought it 16 or 17 years ago from a pawn shop. I don't think he ever played it much himself, but whoever had it before him must have played the hell out of it because the frets had big grooves in them along with noticable wear on the fretboard. The body however is in amazingly wonderful shape except for 4 dings in the face. It's in the shop getting a fret job and a new nut right now. I can't wait to get it back. I haven't gotten to play it yet. I actually have never played any Jaguars/ Jazzmasters before.

It looks good!
You'll love it once it's back from repairs.

Oh lord. I think I just soiled myself!
That is the finest Jag I've ever seen.
(I'm a huge fan of the metalflakes, obviously!)

Hey Terry, welcome to the forum.
Could I ask a favour.... can you tell me what the serial no. is for that Jaguar (gold flakey one).
I have a collection of neck dates/serial no. verses whether the neck is blocks and binding or it is dots and binding and this jaguar of yours is only the second I have ever seen with a 65 neck date AND blocks and binding.
If you have the pots (volume and tone) dates that would be great as well.
click
here and it will take you to the graphs I have created of the data I am collecting
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Hello Sookwinder, I'm afraid the serial number plate on my Jag has been changed. The number on the plate is 500041. As far as I, and my Luthier, can tell everything else is original. It's in the shop now so I cant give you the numbers from the pots. When I get it back I'll post that information. You guys are getting me excited!!!!! Actually I already was.

Terry Wright:
That neck plate is probably original.
Fender used 500000 serial numbers in 65/66.
You'll see them mostly on Coronados.
501282 Sept. 66 Jazzmaster in Charcoal Frost
501486 1966 Mustang
502749 January 1967 Jazzmaster
503008 1968 Coronado II
Your plate is probably correct!
Competition Stripes make them play FASTER.

If it is only the second 65 neck seen with blocks and binding could it possibly be some kind of custom build numbering?
