Best Replacement Jaguar Pickups

Post by batchainpuller » Wed Nov 01, 2006 4:26 am

Imitation is the best form of flattery, stereordinary! I couldn't resist posting a Jaguar version...

[edit]

I just realized that this poll is probably redundant as people will presumably post general opinions of the pickups for any type of guitar in the Jazzmaster poll.

Actually, I don't think it's redundant .. good JM pup types are not necessarily good Jag pup types .. eg: CIJ JM pups are criticized because they're $trat-shaped, but that wouldn't be a problem for CIJ Jag pups.

Although I do think it's unnecessary for you to post a second post immediately after your first and quoting it .. if there have been no replies in the meantime you can simply edit your first post .. which I have done for you this time.

Not to mention, some of us have little to no experience with anything but one type  offset.  Case in point, I've never played a Jaguar plugged in!  So I don't think this this is redundant at all!

I've been told numerous times that I sound better when I'm not plugged in.    ???  :o

How much do the Novak or Lollar pups generally go for anyways?

So....... why did this thread die? It would be really helpful right about now.

My CIJ Jag pickups are microphonic. I was planning on changing them anyway, so what do you guys think? The only pickups I can get easily around here are the Duncans. Are the Vintage ones any good? I rather liked the samples on the website.

if they're microphonic, you could always wax-dip them yourself. A friend of mine was having problems with the microphonic pickups on his MIJ '62 custom, and he wax-dipped them at home, in his kitchen. He doesn't really know much about guitars or anything, but he got really good results.

Yeah... I tried that, but I guess I messed up somewhere, since they're still somewhat microphonic. It's been stopping me from using it as my main axe  :(

I'd add another choice- Dano lipsticks!  I swear, my next guitar is going to be a Jag with lipsticks.
