Re: AVRI owners....
well the guy at the certified fender dealer/repair shop said that it isn't anything to worry about. basically he told me he wasn't going to pursue it, or felt that he didn't need to.
as far as warmoth goes, i don't think i'm going to go that route. all i want is a cheap replacement, even a mexican made strat neck would do. i just wanna be able to play the thing!
i'm just wondering if fretboard radius or nut width would stop this strat neck from working? what about neck profile?

luckily for jag (and jazzmaster) owners, you can readjust the bridge for radius. You can buy a radius guage... or you can just eyeball it
nut widths can be whatever you want, and varied from the factory... or were in the 60s. So it's not a factor.

Re: AVRI owners....
The action on my CIJ Jazzmaster at the 12th fret is 1.35mm/1.25mm from E to e (that's just a hair more than 3/64") from string to fret. No buzzes at all so whoever dressed these frets knew what he/she was doing. The strings are Ernie Ball .010-.054s with a plain 3rd. I love this kind of heavy strings / thin frets / low action setup.

That is low,i used to have around 1mm but the buzzes weren't the best, now i have about 2mm High E -2.3mm on LowE at 15th.F and its great, still low and the notes last longer all the way up.I had a hard time going from these dif height but now i use it to my advantage.Vinkie wrote: The action on my CIJ Jazzmaster at the 12th fret is 1.35mm/1.25mm from E to e (that's just a hair more than 3/64") from string to fret. Re: AVRI owners....
alpha_serpent, was the neck ever alright or has it been like this from the beginning?
if the neck is warped you can counteract it to a certain degree by leveling the frets. i have had a few warped necks that could be made perfectly playable with a little tweaking here and there.
and another thing, you should definitely try to learn how to setup your guitar yourself. it´s not rocket science, and the only person who can give you your perfect setup is you. paying for setups you are not pleased with is just a waste of money.

Fender's neck warranty will NOT cover a gremlin jumping out of your ass and breaking the neck over its knee.
Just didn't want you to have to experience that and then be disappointed with their warranty service.

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.
