I wonder if they ordered these guitars with the flatter radius for the better playability factor or if it's so that they will appeal to more people and so that they will sell better? Hmm.

Good question. I'd guess for the appeal factor. Since they are getting all non-traditional, I'd wish they'd offer one just like this but with an ebony board. Sonic Blue + Ebony ==

If Fender used the same rationale for these that they did for the AVRI Hot Rod models then it may be a playability issue.
