AVRI Jaguar Pickguard! Your opinion please....
I am going to have Pickguard.us cut me a custom Red Tortoise guard for my new AVRI Jaguar cuz I can't find one that will work anywhere else.
Heres the options, which one do you think I should choose for my AVRI Jaguar?
http://pickguards.us/pricejaguar.html
I don't see an AVRI listed as a cut choice...but shouldn't the 1964 Jaguar option fit a 62' AVRI Reissue jag? Anybody know if the new AVRI pickguards are cut to different specs? Which option do you think would be the best one to choose from the list?
Thanks I really appreciate your help.

I'm not much of a Jag guy but AFAIK vintage guards and AVRIs pretty much match so I'd go with the '64 Jag option.
Did you try asking them?

Yeah those guys are always so confused. They aren't offset experts, so I think they are unaware that the USA built offsets kept pretty much the same pickguard specs throughout the years.
I don't understand why they have one option just titled "Jaguar". That's kind of general. Does that mean it should fit every Jaguar? Every USA Jaguar? I don't know.
I think the 64' might be the best option.

I asked the guy today to use the 64' Jaguar pattern and he said 64's and AVRI's pickguards are not even close to being interchangeable. He said the switches have changed slightly over time.

Bullshit.
Neither the switches NOR the location changed, AVRI parts will swap with vintage. I know this firsthand.
I'd find someone else to cut that guard....

I know man that's what I said...but that guy didn't want to hear it. He was like "We cut 200 of these each week"! Oh yeah then how come they dont have a template for a AVRI Jaguar?
He said to send the original, but I don't think they know what they're talking about.

BS. I have used AVRI parts on my '66 Jag and they fit perfectly or with VERY minor mods.

he must have gotten his hands on a severely shrunken specimen for his '64 template...Daysleeper wrote: I asked the guy today to use the 64' Jaguar pattern and he said 64's and AVRI's pickguards are not even close to being interchangeable. He said the switches have changed slightly over time.

I wouldn't send the original to anyone unless I was customer no. 1 who wanted a specific thing and he would want the original to make a template - and I'd have to see some sale on the price since he'd be able to add the shape to his offerings.Daysleeper wrote:

If you can buy stock material that you like (ie a sheet of it), dazbootman (his name is Bryan but that's his eBay name) will do a guard for you cheaply. His stuff is great.
