Jaguars / Jazzmasters in TV commercials

Post by SPudnik » Wed May 23, 2007 9:24 am

I pay attention to the music in TV commercials and have noticed that the typical Strat sound is almost non-existent these days.
What I do hear much more of is Jag / Jazzmaster sounding guitars. Of course I cannot for sure say what guitars are used, but they seem to have That sound - good Jang.

Maybe the trend-setting Ad business knows something the public doesn't...  8)
Now, if they could just get some more Bass VIs in there...

Nah, they're probably strats. Either that or they're those line 6 variax thingies.

Variax?  :)

There's a Dell ad where it's most likely a Jag. The track has that Surf vibe.

I think the point is you can make that sound with a Variax.  Those guitars seem kind of interesting, although I'd never buy one myself.  It wouldn't surprise me if they were used a lot in commercials, though, so a guitarist can go into the studio with one instrument and give a clueless ad producer exactly the sound he's looking for no matter what it is.
