Jags: very short scale?

I have a Jag, I don't have a JM, but a custom 'Tele' at 25.5" and don't find it a problem, and I even have an early Musicmaster with a 22.5" scale that I have no problem playing.

Most of my guitars are 24.75" scale, lots of 335s. Playing Strats and Teles feels very odd now not just because of the different scale length but the smaller body size when compared to a 335. Next week I'm picking up a CIJ Jaguar and by the end of July I hope to have my Jazzmaster built up. It's going to be an interesting learning time methinks. I just had to have that Tom Verlaine Jazzmaster sound.

A Jag is like playing around the second of first fret instead of open. That's the difference. I can't see how this can be a problem…?
Vice versa, changing from short scale to long scale, I would understand, since frets spced that far apart don’t excist on a Jaguar.

GAH! 22.5 was so ubearable for me that I sold a pre-cbs duosonic!  24" is a noticable difference, and I definetly prefer "full scale" for some things (more room for error) but it's an easy transition, and not really a deal-breaker for me.

I have hands the size of shovels. And honestly I have no problem with the short scale.
I only have trouble when the strings are too close together as in the Rickenbacker 12 string which I cannot play at all.
It is the neck width that counts I believe, the distance between frets you adjust to.

I have "relatively" short fat fingers, and agree with the sentiments above.  Scale length changes are only a small percentage of the total.  Those of us with bigger fingers are really hosed on close string spacing due to narrow neck width.  I too find the Ric necks just too narrow and tough to play (not to mention all the other quirks with Ric 12s - I'll take an XII any day - and have!).

I have played a Fender XII DB and they are nicely laid out.
I dont have one, but I do have an Ovation Deacon 6 and 12 string model and they have nice wide necks and are easy to play, plus they look cool with that axe body.

Amazingly, my fave 12 string neck is a cheapo Dean 12 string acoustic - neck width of 1 11/16 I believe...plenty of room for fat fingers like mine!

my fingers get all jammed up on jags and I don't even have big hands, which is a bummer because I love the way they look, although tbh they sound too thin for my tastes too so maybe it's for the best.

maybe the bridge pup (which sounds immaculate with a TS-9), but i get nothing but beefcake out of the neck pup. plus with all the tonal possibilities....i love Jags. i also enjoy the smaller scale as well, although its not for everyone.
