LaBella BassVI rounds too short???

Post by davelowell » Sat Jul 28, 2007 1:35 pm

For those of you BassVI players, anybody ever heard of the LaBella rounds being too short on the b and high e?  The set I got is and I'm kinda pissed.  I can't even get a half turn on there!  WTF?

In case you didn't read the update to my earlier thread.  Anybody hear of such a thing?
Have a look for yourself...

That's definitely screwed up.
Send the whole set back with a persuasive letter.

Made the mistake os trusting a salesman when buying a set of [Six string bass] Dan Electros
The guy said they'd fit a Bass VI.
They don't... the A and E's winding thins out on the business side of the nut - useless,
Bass VI - A What?

That's the first thing that went through my mind, man, these aren't even for a VI!!  haha, but they are, they say so on the package!  Anyway, I have calmed down a little today, and most likely I'll hear from the Monday.

Sucks, though, cause they sound right!

Another brand I found to be messed up is D'Addario for Bass VI.

I mentioned this early on in this forum but it needs a refresher: 'Bought 2 set at less than $10 each. Seemed like a really good deal... Only to find out that again the E and A in both sets were unuseable.

Reason: They come in a guitar-sized pack [3X3 inches] and are so tightly wound up in it that the result was kinks, leading to that dual-note syndrome you get with this type of crap.

I emailed them about it. 'Said they'd look into it, and sent me a nice T-shirt... ...

I seem to remember having a problem with a La Bella set being mislabeled and I had to send it back. I can't remember the details, though.

I talked to a nice man named Eric at LaBella.  He is sending a free set out to me.

So far so good.

I've been ordering strings through Juststrings.com.

They are really great. Highly recommended.

p.s. Thomastik Infeld Power Brights have changed my life

I just got some GHS bass VI strings from Just Strings and they kick ass. They are the only online company that I have ordered from that sent set a business card with a customer service representatives number on it, and a pack of picks!

Glad LaBella came through Davelowell, they're a good company from what I hear. I have never been  able to find a pair of LaBella's in a store, I went to one place and asked the owner if they carried them, he said, "No, those are great strings though, I put them on all my personal guitars. I get em online." Then why don't you carry them?

I freaking hate those strings and I will never again make the mistake of getting them. The D through e strings sounded fine, but the low E and A ruined it.
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.
