Re: Jazzmaster Prices
Ya, I still see the occasional deal on project JMs. Normally nothing a little elbow grease can't cure but you never know. I have seen project guitars in need of work go for nothing on ebay and I have also seen them go for more than fully working guitars. Sometimes you just gotta scratch your head and think there is more money than common sense out there...
A few weeks ago I saw a completely stripped newer Faded SG(with no hardware at all) go for more than the exact same SG with all it's hardware. Huh?

Re: Jazzmaster Prices
I got my 66' back in March for $2500.... it's not 100%
Neck Pup is a replacement
I'm starting to think the Pickguard is aftermarket or MIA too
No Witch Hats (i'm working on it!)
the High e side of the neck has been rebound up to the 12th fret
Case is probably aftermarket
Mustang Saddles
New output Jack
New 3 way selector switch
and i think the F tuners were taken off a LOOOOONG time ago, and replace with the old style that fender used before F tuners
yeah so i was pissed when they told me it was 100% original other than the Neck Rebinding, I freaking knew about the neck pup already! geez
but i got them to knock 500 bucks off they wanted $3000
i really would love to have the 63' i played the day before yesterday in Richmond GC but it was $5999

waht i really want is a 58 or 59 with an anaodized PG

It is possible the 66 neck was drilled for F tuners at the factory, then were filled and drilled for Klusons (also at the factory)........happened a lot in 66.and i think the F tuners were taken off a LOOOOONG time ago, and replace with the old style that fender used before F tuners

Re: Jazzmaster Prices
Wow, I hadn't really been looking at prices lately. Makes me feel much better about paying $2K for my LPB refin '62 slab (original but rewound pickups, replacement pots and input jack) about a year ago. Around the same time I saw a refin fiesta red '63 at a local GC for $2.2K, which I thought was a bit steep at the time. I guess I better hang on to the JM I have now, since even refins are quickly moving out of my price range. Makes me think that I should snap up a '60s Jag before they get this kind of ridiculous.

Re: Jazzmaster Prices
Possibly the fact Jags are short scale may peg back the prices of them.......although the Kurt/Nirvana connection will always be there.

Re: Jazzmaster Prices
Yep, and up into '67 as well. Alot of times they didn't fill the unused holes and there are actually two open sets of holes. If the both sets were factory drilled, the empty set should not be threaded. If they are threaded, I would suspect that the other set of tuners was once installed there, and therefore not a factory changeover. It is possible the 66 neck was drilled for F tuners at the factory, then were filled and drilled for Klusons (also at the factory)........happened a lot in 66.

Yeah, sorry about that one, but that's why I asked you about it in another thread here.... It looked pretty much like an AVRI tort guard to me!

As much as a terribly amatuer refinish can be considered "natural"andrewaward wrote: Wow - is that wear natural?
but yeah, that's how I got it. I'll bet the rest of the finish flakes off within 10 years...
I prefer their older stuff.

Re: Jazzmaster Prices
From the pic aen, the colourings of the 'burst and "design" look looks quite authentic to me for a block and bound era Jag..... pity it has flaked so much.
It still looks pretty cool

Aen, rub some dirt, sweat, and beer on it's wounds and then cover it in clearcoat!
It'll look sexy.
