If I learned anything through the guitars by numbers thread besides cool new and old guitars... it‘s how to insert images!
It does look really cool! But I still prefer the IBM over LPB... has anyone played one of these yet?

Are we really sure about the specs? It says 25,5” scale length.. that I find difficult to believe.
This is the first thing that jumped out at me.
Not good

Honestly, that must have been a quotation-error by Thomann... if they‘d make a full scale Jaguar they‘d be marketing the shit out of it and wouldn‘t sell it as a 60s traditional Jaguar...

Then the 40mm nut could be wrong. The 9.5 radius could be wrong. The U shaped neck....
A "traditional jaguar". Is 24", 42mm, 7.25ri with a C shape neck.
All the stuff in this description sounds like a telecaster neck, not a jaguar neck

Can anyone comment on the bridges used on these? Are they essentially the same as the recent 6-saddle MIM ones, or are they a bit better than those?

I'm a sucker for Lake Placid Blue, but this one looks a shade or two lighter to me. Those metallic Fender colors can be tricky to photograph, so maybe it's just the picture.

It looks like Fender Japan's "OLB" (Old Lake Placid Blue), which is more into the turquoise range. I guess it's meant to look like LPB with a yellowed clear coat, though it's pretty distinct from that IMO.
This is a dead ringer for my '93-'94 MIJ Jag in OLB. Bought it around 2002. It was my first offset and remained somewhat of a unicorn finish-wise to this day, with the OLB and matching headstock.
I guess other people get to join in on the fun now.

Telecaster necks don't have 40mm nuts.
I looked on Ishibashi for this model, as they always have the correct specs. Everything is as described before except for the scale length, which is obviously a typo on Thomann. 40mm nut width, 9.5" radius, Basswood body, U shape neck are all correct.

Basswood is too soft. It dents too easily. That's what I hate about it.
And do any of you have a guitar with a 40mm nut width (Standard Fender size is 42mm)? I find that unplayable near the nut. It's like an A neck from the 60s.
With a poly finish, that doesn't matter.

When I add one to my cart and go to checkout, it says it won't ship to North America
We are quite disappointed with Fender for preventing us from shipping to your country of choice. Please consider products of a different manufacturer or switch to another delivery country.

This is exactly what I always hear people say (about dents), and exactly what my experience has been (that the poly finish is a far bigger part of dent resistance than the wood species).
My alder nitro guitars have dinged up way more than any of my poly guitars over the years, be they basswood, alder, poplar, or mahogany.
I've owned multiple Japanese Fenders, and those finishes are damn near bulletproof. The only ding I ever put in my MIJ Jag, the one that looks exactly like this model and is allegedly basswood too, was from ramming the corner of an 80lb bass cab into it while loading my band's van when I was 18 and had it in a thin gig bag.
That's literally the only mark I put on it in the last 18 years I've owned it, and it's about 1/4" wide. It only has one other ding, which it acquired some time in the 8 years before it came to me.
I wouldn't worry about the basswood being soft under that Fender Japan poly. I've smacked basswood MIJs against more objects than I can count over the years and they hold up better than just about anything. It's a nice-sounding wood and saves a bit of weight, which is more than welcome on a jag. My MIJ Jag is my lightest one, which isn't to say it's as light as a Mustang or something, but it's certainly less of a backbreaker than some of my other Jags.
I actually had a basswood purple MIJ Mascis that came to me with a massive ding, and I always wondered how the hell someone even managed that. I smacked that thing against walls, mic stands, amps...and never dented the finish. I feel like they had to have knocked an amp head off a cab onto it or something.
When I got my first nitro Fender, I marked it up inside of a week, and made me realize that the years of playing my basswood MIJ Jag as my main and only guitar had spoiled me.

I got one a few months ago and swapped all the parts and put gold parts on it. I had a gold mastery kit and a bunch of gold control plates originally for a blonde jaguar I was putting together but decided to ditch that project because I ended up picking up a very clean limited japan blonde jaguar with gold hardware
The original hardware was pretty good actually. I know most people don't like gold hardware so I don't share it a whole lot. It's a great guitar though. It's light weight and the neck is perfect for me.

In my experience, it does. I had a few Basswood poly finish guitars years ago and they would dent just by looking at them. Big difference compared to the Alder poly finish guitars I had.
Maybe I just had bad luck, but after that I won't buy another Basswood guitar.

Question for Snarf: is it actually LPB like the Marr or Classic 60s Jags, or is it lighter and more turquoise in the flesh?
