Because you can't customize it to have a bound neck
but he said your own. if you want to buy it for the neck that's one thing, but to buy it to sound Exactly like TeH KuRTz and conjure up his spirit to help you with your powerchords, that's dumb. That is just a waste of money because you will grow out of that faze, and probably wind up hating the guitar.

But if you happen to LOVE everything about the model and it's your dream guitar. It's your dream guitar who care's who else played it. buy it.

it all depends on the reason for buying the guitar.

end rant :)

It sounds a bit weird to get that guitar just because of the bound neck. Did someone try contacting those Japanee shops to see if the bound neck was available with other Pu configurations or just as itself ?
At the time when i ordered my CIJ with B and B from ishibashi, it looked like they were Fender Japan themselves and could get hold of anything in 24 hours.  :D
Anyway their binding is pretty strange...

They finish the maple of the neck after fitting the binding so they apply the finish ontop of the binding. The binding looks yellow on the side of the neck and white on the fretboard.

There are 3 versions of the Kurt Cobain Jaguar available from Ikebe (Japanese Guitar shop)

Version 4, 5, and 6.  Version 4 is the least expensive and doesn't have the neck binding...that is what is on ebay.

for a while they had bound neck jags without mods, and it was much cheaper to just buy them and do the mods yourself...

Amen to that .. true of any signature guitar really. Not just because you'll grow out of your phase, but because your hero, and pretty much anyone else who made an impact on music, wasn't trying to imitate someone else so why should you?

Yeah! I fully agree to that..the other night there's a band playing in a club..the girl who sang was strumming on one of these KC Jag (with a mustang bridge.. ???)..she was the equivalent of Kurt in the female universe..guitar on the knees etc etc..she had also the same FX..everyone seems enthusiast :-\...I go home after 3 songs..  :'(

P.S.
they weren't a cover band too..the only cover was go with the flow of QOTSA..but I prefer to not tell about that :k

I guess imitating one's heroes is maybe a part of growing up...I was guilty of playing a beat-up Fender Mustang (a '74 Sunburst) into a Boss Turbo Distortion and a Boss Chorus pedal playing Nirvana songs....it was round the time I was pretty young...it lasted for only about a year.

Thankfully, the Mustang was unmodded and a pretty cool guitar, so I never regretted that too much....I soon wanted to discover my own sounds though and moved onto a Jaguar...going through various different effects....

only to eventually settle on Jazzmasters, a Zvex Super Duper and a Maxon AD900 into a non-reverb Fender Tube amp (Tremolux)...that's basically my sound, and has been for a couple of years

it's been a funny ol' ride, but I have to say, I'm pretty glad I never bought a signature guitar....they are actually pretty hard to sell, usually....thing is, the people interested in them signature guitars are usually young, in school, with no jobs, so they can't afford buying it off you....

Many signature guitars are fine instruments as themselves. I have a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, which is CIJ and plays and sounds great. And I don't even like Rush anymore (I did like a 1 3/4 years ago  :-[)

ive got a 3ts jag with cream dimarzios in it. shit. i guess i'm a poseur. well, cept i play sad bastard country songs and classic rock. didnt really set out to have a guitar that looked like the KC, just liked the look of my avri jag with its cream single coils but wanted a guitar with humbuckers and same look. it looks almost exactly like that ebay kc jag, only im using a mustang bridge.

That's cause it's a 66RI that's been modified by the seller to look like KC's
The least expensive KC Jag has a binding, just look here http://www.ikebe-gakki.com/web-ikebe/ikebe-kc/index.htm
