It needs to look like the cover to Loveless, because if it doesn't he has failed. ;)

Red and blurry with pink strings and a large pink square in the middle of it? Hell yeah, I'd buy that, it would distort and phase-shift when you simply touched it.

Has fender ever done a signature Jag (if'n the Johnny Marr sig is a myth of course) ?

There's a signature Kurt Cobain Jag, although only for the Japanese market... That's the only one I know of

Sorry for continuing to go off topic - how about a Bilinda Butcher sig in red sparkle (like her modded Mustang)?

Most of the signature guitars that Fender Japan makes are ever used by the artists aside from a few promo shows like NAMM. As I understand it, Fender talks with the artist, asks them what colors, pickups, features, etc. they'd like then they make a few prototypes. The artist approves, pictures are taken, and press releases are released as the guitars roll out of the factory. Soon afterwards the artist will go back to playing the guitars they've always played (and maybe the Fender Custom Shop will make them a replica of their vintage guitar).

Meanwhile the fans of said artist that are teenagers or broke 20 (30? 40?)-somethings will queue up for the guitar that barely has anything to do with the artist or any of the cool sounds he/she recorded (usually YEARS ago as Fender is kinda slow on the uptake...) that the fan adores so.

[The Fender Japan stuff is obviously different than the Gibson and Fender US Custom Artist Sig Replicas that cost $5-$25 thousand and are made for rich idiots]

If you want a nice, affordable OLY or Black Jag that kind of looks like what Marr-- or anyone else plays I think you should just DIY the damn thing. Make it yours and unique. That is WAY more in the spirit of what any and all of the artists out there have done.

I will now get off my soap box. :jacked:

Stunningly accurate. Less soapboaxing, more fact spilling. Be your own man, is part of what I took from that.

It'll probably slow down the chance of new material if there ever was one. The smart move would be to tie in a new album with signature models for him and Belinda. Release the album, then release the guitars, have Kevin say "the prototypes are all over the new album" and voila, thousands of units shifted. From a purely business point of view it works.

“There’s an oddity to the Jaguar that I like,” Marr says. “It’s easy to switch them off by mistake...
Hahaha! Ain't that the truth!

Flip the lead circuit plate 180 degrees and it becomes easy to turn them on by mistake ;D

Zeke was in a band once, but got kicked out after he accidentally turned on his Jag in the middle of a set. :D

You know, if I had kept my guitar off I might still be in the band. I think my bandmates weren't prepared to have their eyebrows singed by the awesome power of my chops.
