They don't. They have no Jazzmasters in stock. They'll be shipping in mid-September.

NO! I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG, DAMNIT! The hunt continues...
that seems to be the way it is. i waited almost four months for my black Jag (ordered in Jan 07, came in April) and have waited just as long for a holy grail mint PG for it.
i talked to the Fender rep when i ordered and all they had was 06 sunbursts. apparently Fender is making less of the Jag/Jazz guitars then they have in the past, doing two or three runs for each, and dividing that into popular colors. you really do get Custom Shop quality out of the AVRI, but you gotta wait for it. trust me, it is worth the wait.

your story makes me wanna order a black Jazzmaster so i don't have to wait a full year. i'd like them to have the same stamp year, so they would be a pair of sisters, i've always liked that. somebody who has a pair should make a sisters thread.

If you aren't going to be satisfied with anything other than the real thing, hold out for what you want!  You can find nice used ones on the 'Bay for under a grand if you look long enough.  I would do that, if you don't want to wait...

imnotbilcosty same thing happened to me.

I've been saving up for a while for a black Jazzmaster, my friend found me a guy that could get me one for 1150.  When i get the money and tell him i want to put a down payment on it he tells me that fenders all sold out and wont get any until August.

I'm holding out and waiting for them to come in, and looking every day on ebay for a used black JM. hopefully, everything will work out for us.

It takes 2-or-so weeks to get a guitar if the manufacturer has it in stock. They obviously didn't check before telling you that though. They will be shipping out of Fender's warehouse in early/mid September. Any time you order something from anywhere, have your sales guy call the company to be sure you know when you're actually getting it.

I'm thinking about going ahead and ordering one so I secure my place in line. If i DO find one on ebay between now and then (and i HOPE i could, that's almost a 3 month wait we're talking about) I could nab that one and cancel my special order. sigh.........

When I ordered my AVRI Jazzmaster last year it showed up almost a month earlier than my rep said it would.  I was really surprised because Fender is normally horrible with backorder quotes.  Don't despair - the time goes quickly! :D

There are upsides and downsides to both ways - if you want a bought Fender, that's cool, buy one.

Aftermarket bitzers can be cool guitars too, just a different animal.

Guitar Center can pull one from another store in the chain as long as it is in the warehouse.  Check with Musician's Friend as well (same company, just their direct sales/internet counterpart).  They are having some major problems with too much inventory on their hands and slow sales at same store locations, etc.  Their stock is taking a dump lately too, so be prepared to negotiate - you could get a better deal as they become more desperate to keep cash flow going.  With their 3d quarter closing, you may even get better deals as they try to blow things out to make their shareholders happier!

I work at guitar center. There are no jazzmasters in the warehouse, in any color.

What a bummer!  I think it's funny that MF just included the AVRI JM and Jag in their latest catalog for the first time in as long as I can remember.  But you can't get one?

Sure you can!... you just have to wait a few months until fender has them again.
