This one fits on your Classic Players Jazzmaster (MIM) with absolutely no trouble?

It looks exactly like the one I ordered from GFS and that one was (after seeing it in person) CLEARLY too big...

Yea, I had a problem too on my CP HH Jag. The posts were just a smidge too close together for the holes on the bridge. If I took the posts out, put them in the holes and then screwed them down, it was tight but it worked. Unfortunately the action was waaaay too high after that. I was a little disillusioned, until I realized that I *had* a Les Paul with one of those ugly harmonica bridges that I'd toyed with replacing before. Threw it on there and it looks and sounds great! Put a little clear nail polish on the CP bridge to get the buzzing to go away, which seems to have worked. Maybe I'll change it out at some point, but for now it's not just good, it's good enough.

Yeah, it was a straight drop in. I just loosened the strings pulled the original and dropped it in with no problems.

Ridiculous. Well I'm not paying another $20. I'll just get used to the TOM :fp:

Clearly some of you are ..... i don't even know.
the GFS roller bridge fits the CP Jazzmaster.
in fact, it has the same exact specs as the stock adjustomatic (besides having roller saddles, of course)
...oh, and both bridges have a 12" radius.
i have done it and this thread features some pictures of it as well.

I don't think it's a question of some of us are... unless you meant to finish that sentence with "..experiencing some of the problems one encounters when dealing with cheaply manufactured knock offs of precision parts."
I got the one from Guitarfetish and found the original CP posts were too tight for the holes in the rollerbridge. The posts the roller came with fit better but still the thing didn't just drop right on. It clearly needs to have the post holes drilled out a little before it is a useable bridge on the Classic Player in some cases. The good thing about the poor quality workmanship and the fact it only set me back the cost of a few pints is that it helped me decide to order a Mastery.

+1 (for being such a sweetie and having the same problem)

Xmastree- The bridge I ordered is clearly visibly different than the original CP bridge I have. I saw your post and am overjoyed as well as envious that it worked out so well for you...but I'm not a retard.

If you can get the intonation screw clips out of both bridges, you could put the roller saddles in the adjustomatic. Warning: if you've used loctite, you probably won't be able to remove the clips.

How do you like the Mastery on the CP? I've always wondered if there was much of a point in putting one on there, but in the end, I guess whatever makes your guitar function to the best of its abilities becomes worth it.

It's still in the mail. I'm not sure the CP needs a Mastery bridge, but I sure like the look of them.

Fair enough. I don't really know what it is about the TOM that get's me, but it just seems absolutely foreign and bizarre; mind you, I've played Fenders exclusively my whole life, so I'm used to quirky bridges with individual saddles.

JforJag wrote:I went back to an AVRI bridge in my CP Jazzmaster a year ago and it works great. I kept the CP "thimbles" intact and just screwed down a couple of 8x15 mm set screws from Ace Hardware. The action is so low on these CP's that I had to remove 1/8" (and no more) from each AVRI bridge post so that the bridge screws would pivot inside the heads of the 8x15mm screws. Just make sure to remove the bridge screws before you hack or file the bridge posts.
Do you have any photos of this? I'm not quite sure I understand what you did here. It sounds suspiciously simple (put 8x15mm screw into stock CP thimble still installed in guitar), but it can't be that simple, can it?

I might be extra slow tonight. I've been sick all week...

Its that simple! The grub screws you need look like:

Slack the strings, remove the TOM, run the grub screws into the 'thimbles' with a 4mm hex wrench (don't overtighten), drop in the AVRI bridge. As mentioned earlier, the action is so low on these CPs, I had to remove between 1/16 and 1/8" from the bridge posts to allow the bridge pins to rock freely in those screws pictured above.
