Re: 2013 Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI
Wow! This is excellent news: now everyone can have a Bass VI.
I'm still completely enamoured with my MIJ VI, but I'm curious about how they will compare.
I don't really need another one, but my brother's birthday is coming up...

As great as this announcement is, I still wonder why they had to release the frankenstein pawn-shop model under the Fender banner. The cost of the pawnshop model would probably be the ideal cost / quality trade value in comparison to what you would expect from these models, yet these are infinitely more desirable because they appear much closer to what you expect from a Bass VI.
I might be wrong though.

Simply - the Fender Pawnshop line are very different instrument regards parts and labour, Finish. These VM's will no doubt be a little rough around the edges from what have experienced from my VM Jag and JM. I personally don't give a f**K - I will be modding.

Re: 2013 Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI
The cynical side of me says exactly that: they brought out the PS model first because a lot of people who'd be wanting a bass VI for years would buy it, regardless of it's Frankenstein aspects. If the Squier was announced at the time, most people would've plumped for the Squier and so the pawn shop model wouldn't have sold all that well.wrath wrote:As great as this announcement is, I still wonder why they had to release the frankenstein pawn-shop model under the Fender banner. The other way of looking at it is fender looked at the popularity of the VM jags/JM's and the popularity of the PS bass VI (I've heard more than a few times that the PS bass VI was flying out of stores at one point) and saw a VM bass VI as a natural way to extend the range and capitalise on it's success.

Yeah, me too! The production of the Pawnshop version can be stopped now.
