That's the 40th Anniversary Gold neck, like what comes on this.

I've got one that's waiting for my Tonebomb body to get painted (by me, and I'm kinda slow about things right now...)

This thing is a CHONKY BOI and I love it!

Oh, I've got the Olympic White one, that's why I asked. Though I'd love to swap the neck for something like JMJM or Harley Benton offset, they are really nice and have medium jumbo frets. I'm not really into narrow tall.

LOL My brain just went "ASK HIM IF HE WANTS TO SELL IT TO YOU!!!" as if I didn't just win a CV Jazzmaster neck off eBay for $42 and I have a VM Jag neck that might be going on my Marrguar build... Or the CV Jag neck I have on the way. LOLdistressed wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 6:24 amOh, I've got the Olympic White one, that's why I asked. Re: Squier 40th anniversary Jazzmaster (impressions on p. 8)
Maybe I should write something ontopic.
Got the Gold OW version few months ago for under 300 euros. Must admit it was pretty unimpressive with factory 9s, dry fretboard and dirty frets. After restringing it with 11s, some fret polish and basic setup, it is entirely different thing. At first it sounded too bright to me into my Yamaha g100 B212, so I swapped stock pots (which are fine by the way) to 500 K ones, but after playing it plugged into my Bassman I thought that it has lost some of the classic JM character in high frequencies, so I put the original ones back.
Bridge is ok (apart from some minor rattling which I don't mind), but it was sinking with a heavy trem use. After trying putting some tape on the screws, friend of mine came across a great idea - he just swapped the original screws to longer, thicker and stiffer ones, and it just works - no need for threadlocker hacks and stuff. Anyway, I have ordered Staytrem just in case, so I'll see when it arrives, but that thing is now stable AF. I play all the way from strumming and picking to the heavy string bashing with divebombs, and the guitar stays in tune pretty good.
Pickups sound good, the bridge is maybe too boxy for my ears but ok. I'll swap them for some antiquity II's at some time but they are definitely fine on their own. Alpha mini pots work fine with a good smooth taper. Nut is ok. Tuners are cheap but they work, will be swapped for some Gotoh sometimes. The only major downside for me is neck, but it's entirely due to my taste, it's too narrow and I don't like narrow tall frets.
Bottom line - for the money I got it for, I can mod it and swap virtually everything except the body, and I'll be maybe little above 1000 euros.

I put the SD Vintage Jazzmaster set in and they're much better than the Squier PuPs.
The White looks much better than my Sea Foam with the gold guard. Love the robot!

Oh yes, and trem system is the AliExpress one
I've ordered it along with the vintage bridge for like 30 euros both, just out of curiosity. Bridge seemed fine but had some intonation issues and some intonation screws kept unscrewing, so I thought it was too much hassle and got the Mustang one back. Trem works absolutely fine.

So what's the final word on the knife edge. Should it be nicely squared off without burrs or should it be rounded over?
I've seen the Puisheen video a million times and I'm still not sure.
I don't know if I can do the lathe thing but I can't find the replacement screw assembly in Europe. Must dig deeper i guess

Also, looks like Thomann is an AllParts dealer, so they should be able to get you BP-0427-010.

Received and installed the genuine Fender 62 Vintage trem. I also used Loctite Blue on the bridge screw posts, and now the trem is very stabile for my
style of use. Barely moves and if it does a slight pull sharp brings it back pretty much dead on.

Re: Squier 40th anniversary Jazzmaster (impressions on p. 8)
Ok, joined the club! Desert Sand version, and relatively light @7.5lbs. The frets were pretty level but needed a good polish and attention to a few ends -- easily done. Before I get under the hood, has anyone successfully bent the trem arm enough to get a decent friction fit? I've tried the 'hammer' method w a fair amount of force, but it doesn't want to bend -- I recall seeing somewhere that these offshore arms are much more rigid metal than AVRI and difficult to bend. That leaves the collet option when I get in there to check the plate edge contact, but am now worried trying to bend that as well...

Re: Squier 40th anniversary Jazzmaster (impressions on p. 8)
So I’ve got the 40th Anniv JM in the satin sea foam green… and a desert sand on the way. Each set me back $300 USD exactly (green from Pro Audio Star - be careful with them - and the Desert Sand from Sweetwater (because I called).
My take on the seafoam:
It’s beautiful, but it’s BRIGHT. Definitely a sunshiney-surf vibe.
The pickups sound very nice. I don’t sense the need to swap them out. The electronics are firm; not noisy. The bridge rattles but the sound doesn’t come through my amp so I’m not bothered to address it just yet.
Now here’s the reason I think they’re an absolute steal at $3-400: THE FEEL.
The satin neck and body are just comfy like a pair of trusty jeans.
I honestly wish Squier and Fender would offer such a finish more often. The seafoam MIGHT be my most comfy guitar in the stable.
I’ll address the bridge rattle, swap from 9s or 10s to 11 flatwounds, and change the ugly/small stock knobs. Other than that, I’ll chill.

Re: Squier 40th anniversary Jazzmaster (impressions on p. 8)
Can anyone confirm that they’re using minipots on the 40th anniversaries?
Any guesses as to why suddenly these Squier pickups are sounding really, really good??
