im gonna stay with the black scheme. i put tele knobs on my other jag for a day and didnt like them. i think the regular knobs are cool.

hopefully i can get some jazzmaster pickups. im leaning towards the seymour duncan quarter pounders. anyone know where i can get some black pickup covers?

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

That might not work so well, usually you'd want something hotter in the bridge so you can match outputs well. The strings vibrate more at the neck, thus more signal. But then again some people like teles with humbuckers in the neck and stock tele pickups.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

http://guitarpartsresource.com have black JM pup covers. but i´m gonna have to include a warning here. they have been know to get the orders wrong, and when they do, they are a pain.

ok so update:

this guitar is a mess!! im in for more than i thought!

the dude i got it from did a hack job on the electronics. the bridge pickup has something wrong with it. its very quiet. the neck pickup seems fine. the toggle is some weird huge toggle switch with too many threads. it stick out like half an inch from the pickguard. it was wired completely wrong. i had to rewire it, but the pickups needs changing anyway. i think i might throw some humbucker in the bridge for now and then think about getting something else later. ive gotta worry about my amp before i start spending a bunch of money on this.

the neck needs adjusting. the bridge needs adjusting. the old stripped out strap button holes need to be filled and i need to pick up some schaller straplocks for it.

funny thing is, it looks like the finish on this newer jag has a higher concentration of flakes. i mean, its almost "sparklier". i dunno. haha

im going to go pick up a new three way toggle, and possibly a bridge pickup tomorrow. its gonna be open coil, im not too particular, just something that sounds good for the time being.

pics tomorrow.

yeah, he was some super scene like, screamo guitarist. he was attempting to swap pickups but never put different pickups in, he just butchered the wiring. hah.

alright.

so today i went and bought a replacement toggle switch for the jag. take a look at the old one:

Image

yuck. gobs of solder all over it. a big stupid box. basically not what we want on a guitar. this isnt even stock!

anyway, i soldered the new switch in, made sure the wiring was all good then put her back together and strung her up!

she still needs the truss rod adjusted as well as the bridge, but other than that, shes sweet. the pickups sound fine besides the whole being rusty part. im gonna pick up a humbucker for the bridge sometime soon. maybe next week after i get paid.

until then, heres some pics of my babies...

notice my tele in the first picture off in the corner, being jealous. haha.

what do you guys think?

EDIT: take a look at the finishes side by side. doesnt it look like the newer one has a higher "flake to inch" ratio? it just seems sparklier!! haha. i dunno what do you think?

Truss rods really difffer from guiar to guitar, but if it's that bad, I'd have it checked out by a proffessional
