Re: New Jazzmaster at NAMM
+1 I use the rhythm circuit regularly. Besides, what harm is done if it's there and doesn't get used? I know, people bump it inadvertantly.i love sharin foo wrote:For myself and with regard to Jazzmasters and jaguars, it's that they work perfectly for me the way they are now. That's with all the stock parts that some people don't like, including the bridge and the rhythm circuit. I don't feel like they need to change anything at all to make them work. By that same token, I'd rather have a Strat that was true to the original design, but there's a lot of people out there who like all the modern upgrades.mikkiki wrote: it's quite a dangerous thing to change an existing guitar-design. why are guitarist (incl. me) so damn conservative? odd..

Re: New Jazzmaster at NAMM
I have a good friend going to NAMM tomorrow and I was tempted to ask him (jokingly) to pickup any offsets through the back door after the show. But, even I had asked seriously and he actually did it, I'd still be disappointed.
Not that that thing is that bad (I bet the sticker could peel right off) it just looks so cheap. Like 'Fender introduces the budget line of student model Jazzmasters and the 2008 Winter NAMM show!'

I don't know. It's ugly, and definitely not what I'd want to own, but I'd play it if it were given to me. I'd mod it a lot though. And I mean, A LOT!

Times change. Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky? Now it grows hair! We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Ah, what's the big deal? I kinda like the music note. I've definitely put worse stickers on guitars. I could see a member of an early 50's big band playing this one.
And Pearloid guards are awesome. I'm not so into the switches, however.

Re: New Jazzmaster at NAMM
those stupid $trat players are slowly trying to transform the Jazzy into a $trat...
first we lost our CIJ pickups to brighter, $trat like ones...
now our pickup switch! whats next? get rid of the tailpiece and have a vintage $trat
trem in its place? Oh wait! we already have one of those, its called the jagmaster!
AHHH!!!

Re: New Jazzmaster at NAMM
It's not a sticker - it's part of the finish. That was in the Custom Shop display. They ALWAYS do a few "one-offs" for NAMM - some are cool, some, not so cool.
This is not a new model, not a sig model, whatever. It's just a showcase of some of the stuff they do in the CS. It's probably more on display for the custom electronics (and finish?) than anything else. Trust me - I've seen some real turds on display at various NAMM shows!

Yeah one time i saw they had a jazzmaster in blonde white with a gold guard and MEGA birdseye maple neck and fret board, and it has 3 single coils and a bigsby, but it had the vintage fender playboy with a lasso painted on the arm rest.cmatthes wrote: It's not a sticker - it's part of the finish. I wish they'd just concentrate on making them the way Leo did.
