I've heard of heroin and cocaine being stuffed in farm animals to cross a border. maybe they've moved up to Squiers.

Used a real camera! Here's something the band is working on recorded w/ the VM JM:

Looks really good! I wonder if a MIJ gold pickguard would fit :shifty:

Unless another pickguard fits, I'll have to scratch the "Mod a Squier VM" off my list sadly...

You can make a tracing of the pickguard on paper, and send it to Pickguardian, WD Music or Terrapin :)

How do I print this: http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to the right size?

Interesting on how many of us Squier Jazzers are modding. Mine is fantastic right out of the box. I am not changing a thing except a pro set up with Ernie Ball Super Slinkies .011-048. I love the look, feel and sound. Certainly more powerful and grittier that stock but still has that Jazzmaster tone with more ummph. After playing real 60's Jazzers for over 25 years I can tell you this a quality instrument that has it's own character yet is very faithful to the spirit of the Jazzmaster we all love. Mine is Butterscotch and I am thinking of getting the 'burst also. Rock on!! :-)

I was shocked at how much the gold anodized p/g's were! $90 + WOW. I may try to dye the white one if I can find some mint green dye. Let us know if the MIA fits.....

I got the chance to check these out at a local shop, and was pretty impressed. The bridge seemed solid, and the overall finish on the guitar was quite good.

The Butterscotch blonde one I saw had a bit of grain showing thru, and was better looking in person than in the pics.

I think I want one.

I see they've landed in the UK, and at a good price:

They've been in the UK a while and are the cheapest decent offset available thanks to our shitty VAT and import taxes. I wanted to get one of these to mod but when I tried one I realised they're pretty amazing as is. Its on my list after a second hand jag

they've not arrived in my city yet. don't need another guitar enough to order one, though.

I played the JM at a local shop, so I really had time to put it through its paces. The fit and finish were equal to any Classic Vibe I've played. It was a four-piece body, but it was matched well. The Jazzmaster pickups sounded like they should. Bright and jangly, and mean with distortion. The problem was that there was a lot of noise coming from it. I don't know if it was the cheap cable they gave me, or the single-coils themselves, but it was a problem nonetheless.

I played the Jag at a local Guitar Center, and I liked this one better overall. The short-scale and humbuckers were quite nice. If the HB's could be split, I think you'd have a very versatile guitar.

Both of them needed the concentric knobs adjusted to move freely; it's just took a few turns with an Allen wrench. I didn't find any other issues.

Personally, I just can't get past the look of the bridge, and the placement of the output jack. I know that the guitars are supposed to be "modified," but it just doesn't work for me. Those are just my opinions.

Overall, I think these are both very good values at $300. If I were in the market for the Jag, though, I'd be tempted to look at a discounted or used Blacktop Jag first. Especially true for the Jazzmaster, as well. If I were pinching pennies, I still think the $280 VM Jagmaster would be a better guitar. The XV JT-100 would be the JM solution (for me,) if I only had so many ducats.

I'm kind of upset it's so tough to put a JM Trem on these; the Butterscotch has really grown on me. Would it be worth putting a bigsby on it? It wouldn't be like a real JM then.

Wow that sounds great. That really sounds like the kind of sound I'm after, sounds like a way less honky more glassy version of a Tele if that makes any sense, kind of what I expect a Jazzmaster to sound like.
