I sold my vm jaguar (oly white) when I was getting married and it was the one that got away. I found a loaded body for cheap and just bought a CP neck from con-tiki! Chris so I am happy to have another jag prospect in the stable since my '66 is not the most reliable guitar on the planet

Quick question regarding the older VM's with rosewood fretboards: does anyone know the specific species of rosewood used for the VM's? Is it indian rosewood?

Yep. Or at least that's what they always said it was.

Don't know if it's been covered previously, but are these any good?

As this thread's OP, I applaud this comment.
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

That is the spirit lol !
I just ordered on line the classic vibe mustang bass!
Tried one at a guitar store at some point and felt very solid instrument for the price.
I also own a vintage modified jazzmaster fom 2012 and has proved to be a keeper.
Things that made me go for the mustang bass is the fantastic surf green, quality of course and the lack of skunk stripe on the back of the neck. String thru is also a plus in my book.
Merry Christmas everyone!
