Shit, if this is true I'll buy it tomorrow and transcribe the article. I don't usually buy guitar mags but if it's Marr talking sig Jag I'm all over that like Trisha on a stick of butter.Mr. Peabody wrote:I guess the new issue of Total Guitar has Marr on the cover and he talks about the signature Jaguar?
Not sure if the magazine is available in the US or only UK/EU....

That's it. I don't know what it is, but real guitar mags seem to pale in comparison to this forum - there's a certain objectivity and informed judgement that seems to be lacking in the more cliquey environment of a glossy corporate guitar piece.pointsman wrote:yeah i heard marr was in total guitar this month. dunno if i'll buy it, total guitar is shite. guitarist is a pretty good mag but even then they do tons of articles with people i don't care about
I guess you might say you get "spoiled" by the overall quality of OSG. Just one of the reasons to love it.
Anyway, TG is available in my local newsagents so I'll pick it up tomorrow, I guess.

Supposedly to have A more "substantial" neck, for those who don't get along with the small necks.....hmmm

He has to mean depth and/or width, right? He couldn't mean longer scale... could he?sdgails wrote:Supposedly to have A more "substantial" neck, for those who don't get along with the small necks.....hmmm

A longer scale jag would be ridiculous! I'd seriously think about getting one.
They don't advertise for killers in the newspaper. That was my profession. Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner. Ex-killer.

I'll bet the width of the neck is wider, the scale is what gives the Jag it's sound.

I suppose, then, that: the wood, the wires, the pickups, the magnets in the pickups, the switching system, the bolt on neck and the floating vibrato system has nothing to do with it?sdgails wrote:the scale is what gives the Jag it's sound.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
I hope the jag doesn't have a worn finish. This one looks cool, but 100's of guitars with this same wear pattern would be kind of lame imo.cursesfoiled wrote:Uhm, this is gonna be awesome. Count me in to try this out when it hits the market.
It sounds like it won't be a replica of one of his guitars though, so thats cool.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
Oh man I can't wait, I hope its at least some what affordable (under $2000) it will probably be the same price range as the signature Jazzmasters. He says the neck is copied from a '65 Jag which is "slightly more substantial" I imagine its the same scale, maybe with a flatter radius? What exactly does series wiring do? does it use both pickups like a bridge position humbucker? That would make sense because Marr's Jag in The Cribs sounds beefy like a humbucker.
