been playing it for about an hour this morning.....

outside of the basic things it needs (about a $20 order from GPR, still can't find the foam though)......

i don't think i can wage a fair decision on it until it has had a pro setup.

- get the intonation perfect
- bring the action down a hair
- stop the bridge buzzing (that zing/ping sound i can't pin down!)

it honestly has the frets/radius of an older les paul. thats what it reminds me of.

I used some foam weather-stripping. I found stuff that was close in size and it works fine.

+1  It's the closest you can get to the actual stuff used by Fender. It's also very useful for the mutes. It's what I used on my Mustang Bass mute and it works perfectly.

...okay - here is a suggestion.  You should clean that up and make it look like this:

still can't find the foam though
If you look in the Bass section of GPR the stuff that is used to mount Jazz and Precision pickups is the same foam.... just get that if they don't list the Jag/JM stuff. :)

i just went shopping. time to put in a work bench.

it's small.....but it will do.

home depot
- brasso
- microfiber cloth
- razor blades
- 000 steel wool

Target
- more cloth
- table (to be used as a bench).

i looked everywhere, i couldn't find any naptha. to make it worse, i couldn't even find any typical lighter fluid.

what's best, 2 parts fluid, 1 part water?

Are you sure Home Dept didn't have Naptha?  Its in the paint section next to all the strippers - acetone, aircraft remover, etc. They always carry the stuff in the blue can - not sure of the brand, but it has all kinds of stripping products in a similar blue can.

i was fully prepared for the worst.

i rewired everything just now. first time in a jazzmaster. still had all the cloth wiring.

amazingly enough....despite it being me working on it........IT WORKS!
